When I saw how much Katie H was goading Perez, ostracising him and goading others if they didn't follow suit, I thought Perez (as much as he might be damaging his own image) was indeed damaging Katies too as she was showing so many nasty traits.
But we've already seen that Katie H's pastime is to pick at peoples negatives and highlight them to the group....shes done it with Alicia, Katie H etc - in fact it seems her source of entertainment is to go through each housemate and highlight the worst in them. When Perez went into the secret room, we saw her start a bit on Patsy and Katie H....and Patsy mentioned in her exit interview that there was tension even without Perez and everyone was wondering who Katie H was going to focus on next after he had gone.
Which makes me think that Perez is actually a help to Katie. As much as we've seen her being insulting, goading, bullying and downright nasty to him, perhaps people don't mind this (or at least let it go, because it is aimed at Perez who they dislike so much?). In fact many might actually enjoy the taunting and ostracising because its to him and she gains popularity by it. Perhaps the similar mocking behaviour she has showed towards Alicia, Patsy and demeaning comments aimed at Katie P etc are drowned out with the whole Perez thing and if he wasn't there and she was belittling and insulting people who weren't attention seeking (or in the publics eye 'deserving' of it) she wouldn't be as popular?
I'd like to think this is the case, because the only way I can try to understand people enjoying the insults and catty comments is because it is directed at an attention seeker they don't like and perhaps they feel he deserves it. If this is not the case, I can only conclude they just enjoy seeing her pick flaws in people and mock them publicly? Do they admire the fact she doesn't care about others feelings? That she has the courage to say things to peoples faces even when she knows it'll embarass them and make them feel small? Do they find someone being publicly humiliated entertaining or funny?
