I get so fed up of seeing these terms tossed around on the show and on here.

So what if someone "sits on the fence"?

If they don't want to get involved, then leave them alone. Not everyone is that opinionated.

How would the people that screamed at each other all day feel if the "quieter" ones demanded (no, not demanded), calmly suggested that they keep their opinions to themselves and say nothing?

And as for Game Plans....well it is indeed a game and they must all surely have a plan to either win it or just to take part.

I don't believe they all have gameplans. I think many of them just be themsleves and see where that takes them.

Someone like Nadia, however, definitely had a game plan. Her game plan was to go straight for Hopkins and she hoped the public would support her in doing so. Suddenly Hopkins is being cheered and Nadia is being booed. The game plan hasn't worked out too well.

But how do we know what they are thinking?

Basically, we don't.

She's only being booed by the morons outside the house, and that doesn't count!

We look at the evidence and then we make an educated guess.

Why are they morons?

Because they don't share your opinion?

They are just normal fans like you and me.

Its the same with 'true colours' and 'two faced' - so overused.

Because they lost all credibility when a few years ago they started booing everyone whether they were nice, fragile or nasty, or whatever. When the people they boo most are saved by the paying voters.

I don't think so. I wouldn't waste my time standing in the cold / rain, shouting and booeing. The crowd are the worst part of the show for me, it makes me cringe listening to them. And that is regardless of who they are booeing, I just detest it. Also, they boo when Emma is talking to the house, when she's trying to interview the house mate who has been evicted, I wished they'd just STFU. Just my opinion though, I know plenty will love the baying.

I agree, I cringe whenever I see the same old cliches trotted out. "______ is sitting on the fence", "______ is playing a game", etc. Those two in particular are the BB house equivalents of "vile", "true colours" and "the mask has slipped" on here.

It's at the point where being genuinely nice and non-confrontational equates to "sitting on the fence", when it's most likely that they're just naturally like that. Why should somebody go against who they are and get involved in the arguments of others?

As for "playing a game". Well, they all are. It's called Big Brother.


When people insist on chanting "Off! Off!" during an eviction interview, they're more than eligible to be branded morons as far as I'm concerned. "Normal fans" of the show would actually want to hear the interview.

That sounds right.
The length of BB should be such that any game plans fall apart and HMs revert to their real characters, warts and all. The shortness of the CBB means this probably won't work and a real player could keep up the pretence for the duration without trouble.
I think Nadia is worn out because she chose a bad plan and is having trouble maintaining it, and wishes she hadn't started.

They all have game plans, even those in civilian BB get themselves PR bods before they go in. As for sitting on the fence, why not, especially in the celebrity version. Stay out of all the childishness, keep your integrity, go home and cash your check and never see the others again. No one goes into BB to make lifelong friends.

A bit of rain never hurt anyone. Thousands upon thousands stand on the football terraces on a weekly basis in all types of weather.

The crowd noise all adds to the atmosphere.

Just because you don't always voice an opinion, doesn't mean you don't have one. It infuriates me that being a nice person who doesn't care for confrontation is classed as a bad trait in there.

Too true. The gang leaders expect you to join a gang and back them up in their petty squabbles. It's all so childish.

They are being paid to be themselves, not put on some silly performance for the public.

The boos and cheers when their names are being read out is a highlight of the eviction process. That's the only contact they have with the outside world. It's always entertaining when someone with the arrogance of Perez is brought down a peg or two. One minute he's telling everyone that the public love him and he'll be there until the end. The next minute he's been booed and wants to go home.

That is correct and if we don't like them we are entitled to say so and vote them out. The days of boring people like Luke A and Sam winning Big Brother are long gone. We want to see a bt more from housemates now. Look at the last three winners -- Jim Davidson, Helen Wood, Gary Busey. All three were controversial characters.

I think a lot of people expect a 'performance' nowadays vald, which is a shame. We're supposed to be judging them by who they are and not the best performance. It seems to have got worse over the years - can you remember when the decline started? I haven't watched every series.

Well, I'm a member of "the public", and you sure as hell don't represent me. You represent yourself and yourself alone. You can "like to think" otherwise all you want, however.

Also, if you really did represent this "public" you speak of, surely you'd have supported the winner for more than just the last three series? And what about the members of "the public" who booed Helen? I assume you don't believe to represent them?

The show has certainly deteriorated.


BIB Nor me. I haven't watched since Julian won. And I've only watched a few episodes of this one. IMO the show has got quite ugly.
