Every year I hear the same bs from housemates giving out about others not being "straight up" or "saying it to their face". Do you really believe in the real world people are supposed to go up and say how they fell about someone straight to their face day in day out.

Of course we are. And it has NOTHING to do with me if someone is talking about me, because it is none of my business. That is how I view bitching and gossiping. Everyone does it. Yes, it hurts when you find it out, and yes if someone is repetitively doing it to someone I know I would hope the other person would tell them to speak to me, but at the same time, you have to remember that people's conversations are private and personal. It is no one's place to judge a private discussion.

I think what trips some people up is, they misconstrue being polite as 'he/ she must like me', when actually what that means is he/she is a decent human being, who may or may not like you, and who isn't just going to start a fight with you over trivial rubbish, and would prefer to act in an adult way by being civil and polite, regardless of what their deep seated views of you are, which is really the biggest mark of class- how we treat those we dislike.

We can't all walk around like Cami Li with her 'bitch please' attitude, living in 1980's wannabe gangsta land, throwing her head around as if she's about to have some sort of stroke, because she wants to emphasize just how badass she thinks she is. Her and her ilk will be the first to pee their pants when someone dares to nominate them, or say something negative behind their backs, but the truth is, they are doing it too and they are doing it in a louder and more obnoxious way than just about anyone else in there.

As you say OP, it's natural for people to talk to people they are comfortable with about people they aren't, some people just pretend they are too badass for that, even if the cameras tell a different story.

Definitely agree. I posted in another thread that everyone talks about everyone. My friends and family all talk about me when i'm not around i'm sure. There's a big difference from saying 'he does this' or 'i wish he would do that' rather than 'i hate that guy so much and i want him to die' lol.

In a situation where all you have is the other people in the house, no live events or other ongoing topics to discuss, it's natural that everyone discusses each other. As long as someone isn't being best friends with someone and then absolutely slating them the second they're not in each other's company it's fine.

How boring would a housemate have to be for nobody to mention them at all in conversation for three weeks?

All through the last two episodes Nadia has been ranting about Katie being nice to peoples face while bitching behind their back which is exactly what she is doing herself. She is going around everybody taking every opportunity to slag her off and justifies it by saying she is the only one that she does it to. Is that not isolating and targeting one person something that she also claims to hate. I have said it before I thought on launch night Nadia would be a winner but like Linda Nolan seems to have gone in and become fixated by her hatred of someone which is becoming uncomfortable to watch. She is starting to turn on people who do like Katie and imagining that she is somehow brainwashing and manipulating them and does not seem to understand that they might simply just like her.

I agree with you, not saying everything that comes to mind is the better thing to do in the real world.

However the house is a very manufactured and unnatural environment so I don't think it is AS easy or beneficial to keep things bottled up for the sake of politeness.

Basically I think that you should confront your problems with people more in the house than you would in the real world. It's a high tension environment.

I agree - we are all two-faced to a certain degree. We have to be. We can't just go around telling people what we really think of them if we want any sort of relationships. However, when we need to let off some steam we'll probably talk to a trusted person about what is frustrating us and that could be about another person.

I find it funny they all have a go at Katie at telling it as it is and not worrying about saying to peoples faces then accuse her of being two faced when living with people, yet they are trying to telling she must not go round telling people things that are hurtful or honest.

We can't all go telling the neighbours/our bosses/ mother's in law/husband's mates/police etc what we really think about them, but we go home and vent to someone.

In the workplace when some share a space it goes on all the time.. so its even worse in these circumstance. BB know it and why they set it up for Perez to watch and tell tale tilly on them all... Id say he ll be stirring a lot more and all part of the show...

I've met people who proclaim to be 'straight up' 'what you see is what you get' 'I speak my mind' etc. mainly gobshites like KH with opinions to force on you. So I just smile nicely, listen & then totally say 'what a nobhead' when they've gone.

All this "two faced" "say it to my face" BS has really been a snowballing theme of Big Brother for the past few years. It's getting completely ridiculous. Expressing every single thought and feeling to a person's face is not normal behaviour, so why do they all obsess over it? Cameras and the viewers, that's why.
