And that view is a fair enough one to have.
The question is, would you decide that since this lack of knowledge of the alphabet is quite a failing on Alicias part, it is necessary to have to publicly mock her about it, in front of everyone else? What purpose would that serve? What would you have achieved from it (apart from demeaning and mocking another person publicly) ?
So many people talk about 'someone had to say it to her face' and 'thank God not everyone is so PC' which is really nothing to do with the issue. Alicias knowledge/lack of knowledge of the alphabet is not the issue. If Katie felt so strongly about it, she could have discussed it with tact with Alicia. I would suggest that most people don't give a flying fig about Alicias grasp of the alphabet, but what many do disagree with is the motives behind wanting to embarass and mock Alicia with it publicly when there was no reason to do so? Its simply nasty and unecessary.
And to hide it under the banner or 'anti-PC' or 'telling it like it is' is just ridiculous! What possible reason is there to mock her like that about it?
Theres plenty times when being blunt and direct is necessary, to solve a problem, criticise a behaviour which is wrong when the person won't listen to more tactful approaches and avoids talking about it etc... but this was not the case and in no way is related to such an issue. I don't have to be 'offended' by her comments (I never am) to see that she is UNECESSARILY rude. There was no problem, no issue to be resolved, no speech that had to be made....it was nothing more than Katie Hopkins wanting to highlight a weakness in Alicia to make her look small.
