I just noticed the actress was at the NTAs.

Does this mean she is coming back again? I really liked her and think that her running the pub with Linda and Mick would be great to see.

Me too.

She seems like Pat, Peggy, Pauline and Angie all thrown into one. An icon in the making perhaps?

I hope she doesn't become a regular, far too theatrical and OTT for me. Small doses are fine.

Aren't all landladies supposed to be this way?

I wouldn't have called Pat theatrical and nor are Kat and Linda. Peggy and Angie, yes, but I couldn't stand either of them.

I did quite like her at first, thought she was rather colorful
Then I realized she was the same woman in 'Joseph' and she was bloody annoying in that

Maybe Neville Peacock (Belinda Slater's husband) will be introduced as Elaine's son/Linda's brother.

I really didn't like the character but I love the actress's voice, I could listen to her all day.

She's a recurring character so she can attend NTAs.

No. She is not Pat, Peggy, Pauline and Angie all thrown into one. Not at all. She's a funny character a bit ballsy and brass but she is not a patch on Pat, Peggy, Pauline and Angie. In fact I think you're insulting those great matriarchs by saying that. Please don't say that again.

She's only been in Elaine week and Boxing Day episode so we can't say she won't become a great in future but if rather her be recurring until mick and Linda are toned down aloy and not give them excuse for more stories.

Maria has said she her schedule is full until Summer but she will be popping in every now and then. Maria isn't just some actress they cast. She is a hugely successful three time laurence olivier award winning theatre actress. So she will join full time when possible. She may not even join full time at all.

I have seen a few posters compare her to Peggy. I don't see it. Not only is she played an actress that Babs Windsor would kill to have any ounce of talent Maria has, but Elaine doesn't come across as ruthless, cold and sharp as Peggy. But we still don't know a lot about Elaine so it's unfair to suddenly throw her to the wolves and compare her to long time memorable female characters.

I agree, they need to bring her in slowly to try and get her away from her theatrical habits.
