I think there's a difference between how much you're worth on paper and how much you actually have.
Also, he knows in the industry he works that it could all end tomorrow and so the more you make whilst you can, the better.

His domain name & the 'Perez Hilton' brand he has built through his website is probably his main valuable asset given that his website is the only thing of note. Without it he would be pretty worthless.
