I do agree Chacha. I have been fascinated by the dynamic between Keith and Kav for a while now (alas we see little of it). I think it is the most interesting in the house or it was until sexual frisson appeared between Katie and Perez.
I actually think it is even more complex and the tension is not as simple as Kav having a problem with Keith. I think Keith is also uncomfortable with Kav. I think the reasons differ and Keith has better coping strategies but I do think the tension is mutual.
I so agree with the mirror analogy.. Each provides the other with a projected image of themselves at a different times in their lives. I think Keith is consciously aware of seeing his former self in Kav. I am not sure if Kav sees his present or future in Keith but I think at a subconscious level Keith’s existence in the house is triggering something that makes Kav uncomfortable with himself.
I am not sure if Kav has a drink problem but from his performances on Big Reunion, BB and comments made by others he does seem to be a problem drinker. Keith apparently had a serious drink problem which he has dealt with and has been sober for a considerable time.
I wonder if in Kav Keith sees the person he used to be back when he drank. That must be a bit uncomfortable and maybe it provokes an instinct to help. But of course Kav has to accept there is a problem before he is receptive to any help. This must be frustrating for Keith who can only look on and maybe drop hints. Besides Keith can hardly out him on national TV and in front of the other housemates but he can’t quite resist the temptation to try and encourage Kav to drink less.
Kav meanwhile seems to be reading Keith’s little nudges as passive aggressive. (one of the most ironic exchanges I ever saw on BB). He seems to think Keith is diminishing him with little jibes. I think at some level Kav knows that he is a problem drinker and that Keith is aware of it too. So when he says he “dislikes people who make him feel less than he is” in reference to Keith he is actually projecting the demon within onto Keith. Maybe he is overtly denying what his inner voice already knows that he does feel less than he is or at least less then he would like to be. Keith is the mirror in which his anxieties are reflected. So he goes on the offensive to stop seeing the unwanted reflection.
