Maybe most people don't make sweeping generalisations and take people as they find them.

No most brits arent, nor do most brits believe in stereotypes, despite earlier posts patronisingly suggesting they do. As for war comments, typical, there are a large section of posters, haters, who are anti usa, uk, west, and saturate mbs media with their propaganda to create divisiion and hate, a bit like katy hopkins, but they far more sinister, they are that oft stated `tiny minority`, but a big tiny minority, Shame they cant leave the polatics out of some mbs, re entertainment.

Wow. Frankly, you sound like a stereotype of a little England, yank hating Brit. You, obviously, don't feel in any way superior to Americans.

As Björk once said, 'The trouble with the English is that they think they're so superior'.

Katie Hopkins is the sort of person she was referring to.

I might have liked Katie H, if she weren't so English. She's an appalling individual.

I don't even know where to begin with this..... Please distinguish between POLITICS and PEOPLE. It's quite easy if you apply the brain a bit.
You worked with Americans? OMG, well you must be an authority then! Goodness, I can't imagine many people in Britain have links with business or family in the USA. Gosh, how special!

stereotyping, xenophobia….all disgusting and signs of ignorance & narrow-mindedness.

So it is acceptable to bash Americans…whatever, at least we aren't French just joking!

All countries/people have pros and cons.

What, and some Brits aren't awful?

The fact that you excuse her bigoted statement tells me a lot.

Substitute any other group of people for "Americans" and ask yourself if you're comfortable with saying it. I'd hope you wouldn't. So why is it okay to say about Americans?

Your antidotal "evidence" really just shows how you quickly make stereotypes based on limited interactions.

So now the UK is our puppet and we drag you into wars. I did realize you felt the UK was weak and without a self-servicing political agenda. I don't think this is the place to discuss foreign policy especially since you think America owns you or you are up America's ass.

I find comment I am quoting very stereotyping of gay men and of Americans. I see Perez as an individual and not as a gay man. Then again, I see human sexuality as being on a spectrum and not black and white for most people. Cringe @ "homophobic Americanophobic". I can't believe you have those beliefs and that you admit them. Wow, abhor is a really strong word and I think it is sad that you are closing your mind and….oh well, your loss and hopefully you can let go of the abhorrence and embrace what is good and turn away from what is bad. There is good and bad in all countries and there is always something to learn and to enjoy. I'm sorry a few co-workers helped form your opinions but it is understandable (classical conditioning…Pavlovian technique learned in high school psychology).

Calm down! Such an essay. Brits are very insular and xenophobic as a race, in answer to somebody or other. Stereotypes exist for a reason - and doesn't Perez just play on that?

We're not

... and although it's nice of you to say 'xenophobic' rather than 'racist' ( it sounds nicer somehow doesn't it ) there really is little difference

Imagine if Hopkins had gone into the diary room and started the same diatribe with ... "But he's Indian"

The woman is shameful in that she takes a bigot's pride in her ignorance

Oh dear. Suddenly everybody is politically correct to the nth degree! Something rare in Sun readers, which many Katie H critics must be - as they have an awful lot to say about her Sun column.

Gosh, I'm simply full of generalisations today!

And if an American lived with you for 8 years would they conclude that British people were a bit ignorant and negatively generalise about a population of over 300 MILLION?

Maybe I don't fall into the category of 'most' British (I don't know where you get your facts for that one) but I certainly don't think Americans are young beautiful and thin. Thats just as ridiculous as saying Americans are crass, fat and stupid.

So many seem to dislike Katie Hopkins, yet shes red hot favourite to win and is topping all the online polls? Whats the deal?. How can someone be so disliked and still get alot of support?

All generalisations are false, including this one.

Generalizations usually have a sort of general veracity.

Americans are, generally, more 'outgoing' than Brits.

And louder.

Although there are plenty of loud Brits and quiet Americans no?

Americans are generally more patriotic and insular than the English - is that a general falsehood?

Sadly, I don't think that today is any different than yesterday was, or tomorrow will be.

And to comment on another of your posts ... British is not a race. It's a nationality.

I am tired of the double standards that is going at the moment, protecting Katie like this so they can portray her as on a journey

Some for my comment in another post a few mins ago

I might have liked her if she wasn't such an attention-seeking windbag. She's not unintelligent, she can articulate reasonably well (although not as well as she would like us to think) and she's not devoid of talent.

Unfortunately, her raisin d'être seems to be to remain in the public eye by being as unpleasantly blunt as possible under the guise of "telling it like it is" in a supposedly witty way. This does not make me a fan. Mainly because I don't remotely sympathise with the majority of her points and nor do I think she's particularly witty when she's making them.

I don't think Ms Hopkins is trying to be 'witty'. She just says what she thinks. She doesn't expect us all to agree with her - she admits her way of saying things is blunt. But that's her way, it's a part of who she is.

Like gay people and Americans, for example, she simply wants to be herself. She hasn't asked for anyone's approval.
