Samsung Galaxy S4 issues
Hey all,
I've had my Samsung for a little over a year now, over the past 6 or so months its started to cause some problems. I was just curious if anyone had encountered the same issues and how they resolved them. It started by hitting around 15% battery and then dying. It then wouldn't turn on until I had put it on charge, and the majority of the time I would have to restart a few times to get my signal back. A few days ago it played this same trick, but the signal never returned! I have tried pretty much everything to sort this out! I called o2 and they said it was an issue they were seeing recently which they hadn't seen since Nokia's were popular, a connectivity issue where it would not connect to any network. My sim card works perfectly in an old iPhone. Sorry for the long post! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try a factory reset for the signal issue.
The battery issue, let it drain, charge it to 100%, without turning it on, let it drain, then repeat twice more. That might help with that. It's a calibration thing. Either that, or your battery is foobared. On a side note: Have you tried a different battery? If not, buy one. An genuine one. Don't get one from the high street mobile corner shop type place, chances are they won't be genuine. You can tell a genuine Samsung battery because under the label is an NFC item. You'll be able to feel it. It looks like THIS under the label. |

It sounds like you have a duff battery.

Thanks for the advice
didn't even consider it being a battery issue so I'll buy a new one and see how it goes! Thanks again

I would suggest backing up files on the phone then doing a factory reset, if the issue still persists then make sure you install the latest version of android that is available for your device. There was a issue with some samsung batteries that caused them to swell & drain faster, make sure the replacement battery is from samsung. |

It does sound like a battery issue - there was a bad batch I believe that swelled up. Try taking the battery out, placing it on a flat surface and try spinning it. If it spins round then its swollen.
I had a similar issue with my Note 2 but think it was more advanced - the battery would drain to 50% (very quickly!) then die. It may be linked to your signal issues too, my Note would drop signal and not get it back when the battery got close to 50% and wouldn't return until I put the phone on charge. I've replaced the battery now and both problems have disappeared. If a replacement battery doesn't work - could possibly be moisture damage, has the phone been wet or splashed recently? |

I contacted Samsung yesterday, and they said that it's within warranty so I can have it repaired. But they informed me that if they found any damage like water damage I would be charged. I haven't dropped it in water neither has it gotten wet. But I've heard of instances where people have received water damage from having their phones in the bathroom while showering and things like that!
