I, impetuously, bought one of those 99 quid Fire Phones last week and while I actually kind of like it, now I'm used to tilting it to get anything done, waving my arm around like a plastic bag caught in a hedge during a thunder storm, I wanted to install the Play Store for my fitness apps (see appendix 1).

I downloaded the apks from the usual place, connected the phone over USB and transferred them to Downloads. Installed them (NOT in Youtube order the first time, but I uninstalled what I could and had another go).

Does not work for me.

Just curious if the load order has screwed it up for me. Anyone here got a 3.6.6 phone locked to O2 up and running with Google Play?

Appendix 1 - fitness apps are what I use to allow my Jawbone Up Move to mock me for failing to roll off my sofa once in a while.

Um, yea, that's the usual place I was talking about but thanks for trying.

I'm after confirmation from someone who has bought the phone during the sale and successfully put Google Play on it. Trust me I've already Googled and found plenty of people who have the Play Store on the Fire phone, but not necessarily the UK O2 locked phone with the 3.6.6 version firmware. Kinda specific, right?

But since this is a huge forum, there has to be someone else on here who's tried it.

Thing is, I quite like the phone, now I'm getting used to the lack of a home screen, or a back button, but if I can't get eg Pure Connect and the Up app on it then it's not going to replace my Nexus 4.
