People wrote Madonna off when she first broke on to the scene. They said she wouldn’t last and that she was a flash in the pan. I doubt anyone would have guessed she’d still be around 30 years later. If any fan base should give other performers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their longevity, it's Madonna's.
I’m not a fan of Pink, Lady Gaga or Rihanna, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they were around in another 20 years’ time. Rihanna has been on the scene for ten years now and has just scored another huge worldwide hit. She doesn’t show any sign of slowing down. Pink is a touring force all around the world, and her albums continue to sell in decent quantities. Lady Gaga achieved her third US #1 album last year. Like her or not, Lady Gaga is vocally and musically talented. It was her performance at the Grammy Awards that people were talking about, not Madonna’s. Madonna needs the smoke and mirrors in order to put on an OK performance. Lady Gaga can put on a strong performance just sitting at the piano singing or singing while someone else plays the piano. She doesn’t need all the hoopla behind her. That will see her through. I doubt she will ever be as big as she was during The Fame, but Madonna has never been as popular as she was in the mid-80s.
Britney Spears’ career seems to be in a slump but don’t forget that Madonna’s career hasn’t been consistent. Her album sales took a huge dive in the early 1990s, and she spent a good portion of the decade trying to sell albums in the same quantities as Mariah Carey. Golden Globe win or not, I don't think anyone predicted Madonna to make a big comeback in 1998. Why don’t you give other artists a chance? Why do you have to be yet another cocky and obnoxious Madonna fan? You guys are the cancer of internet. You really are so desperate to show her worth that you invade every forum and every music board online. It’s sad. You’re as bad as those Little Monsters, and they're probably half the age you are.

And you're one of those delusions fans who can't face facts. Evkylemeatsix has a point. Here’s a post I thought was interesting:
Quote:
“Expensive ticket prices = higher gross. It really isn’t rocket science. Madonna knows full well she wouldn't break any records if she charged regular ticket prices. It's the same with The Rolling Stones. They managed to gross $87.7 million in just 18 dates thanks to the average ticket price costing well over $300. A lot of the dates on the MDNA Tour were apparently sold out despite only half of the capacity at many of the venues being put on sale in the first place. Since when is putting half of the 75,000 seat Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg on sale selling out? Not even the stage was big enough to warrant that. This also occurred at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, The Aviva Stadium in Dublin, the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, the National Stadium in Warsaw and many other venues throughout Europe and North America. Some of the YouTube footage is downright embarrassing. Madonna's management also lied about her Hyde Park gig when they claimed it was the biggest concert ever held in the park despite the fact The Rolling Stones played to between 250,000 and 500,000 fans in the park way back in 1969. The truth is Madonna's attendance records don't come anywhere near to those of rock legend Tina Turner's. Her Break Every Rule Tour is still the biggest tour, by attendance, for a female artist ever, bringing in over 4 million people. Billboard magazine recently published a list of the highest grossing touring acts of the last 20 years. The fact that Madonna's total tour gross is just a fraction less than Bruce Springsteen's despite a) playing around 350 less shows than him, and b) playing to over five million people less than him is just proof that her high ticket prices are the reason why her tours gross as much as they do.”
Here is a picture of Madonna's show in Gothenburg:

Can anyone seriously see Katy, Rihanna or Gaga having the success Madonna is having now in 2045? Madonna is not her 20s anymore. A 56 year old woman is not going to appeal to teenage music buyers. People need to be realistic about their expectations.”
So all you care about is whether Madonna breaks another record or not? Right. Madonna isn’t always going to be active. There are other artists who will one day break a lot of the records that you fans hold on so tightly to. Rihanna has already surpassed Madonna’s tally of #1 singles on the Hot 100. She only has 12 more top 10 hits to go before she matches Madonna’s current tally. I wouldn’t be all surprised if she beats Madonna’s UK singles sales at some point over the next ten years. After all, she’s sold over ten million singles in as many years. It’s true that no one will have a career like Madonna, but that’s true of every artist. No one’s career is the same. However, you really need to stop putting so much importance on other people’s records and achievements.
