Just like you have done.

I am sure Madge is thankful to all the thread starters because DS forums increase sales 1000000%.

So excited for the release, I've only heard the officially released 9 tracks, so really excited to hear the rest of the album.

I think she would make a good president. Unlike all the others I don't think she would let lobbyist buy her off and I think she would get things done unlike the last few presidents.

Well I haven't been told to start any threads so it's nothing to do with me!

I'm a big fan but even I noticed this and thought it odd. However, Madonna is everywhere at the minute..it's almost like 1991 again!

I've actually just come to the forum to post an article about her.

I think it is because she's the big artist releasing new music at the moment

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madonna...es_discography

This is seeming to be the least successful album of her career. Even worse than MDNA, which I thought would never be possible. Hardly gone top 10 anywhere in the world.

However, she is actively promoting, the reviews have been great etc. She was front page of the papers the moment Living For Love came out, and it has already dropped out of the Top 40 after 1 week. Paloma Faith's Only Love Must Hurt Like This is still in the top after... 50 weeks!

Is this just a new music climate or the market is too saturated? What mistakes have they made? You would have expected her to have at least gone Top 10 for one week in the UK. The album WILL get to no 1 next week, but is this enough?

I think that sadly many people look at her, visualise a number, and then cannot see beyond it.

The leaked tracks didn't help

Well firstly, the album was only released on Friday in some countries and today in US and UK so you can't say the album has flopped. The album will do well I'm sure.

L4L did flop though.....and while I think it's pretty generic it deserved to do better. Apart from the age issue, I think the fact that the song was available from December hurt it's chances. All the hardcore fans already had it and there weren't enough casuals interested.

However if Ghosttown flops, then I'm not sure what else she can do, because that's probably the best song she has done in 10 years.

From what I've heard, it's just not that good.

I think it's a variety of reasons. Madonna is still hugely popular amongst her huge fanbase, but these are older people - I mean older than those who might buy singles via a download. She also is considered to be old by younger music buyers so she may not be relevant to them, even though to music and the world in general, she obviously still is relevant. I think that she has become an album/touring artist, which happens to everyone as they progress through a long career. Annie Lennox doesn't sell singles either does she? Nor Mariah Carey. Nor Celine Dion. Nor Kylie Minogue and three of these women are younger than Madonna is, so Madonna has done well to get a UK number 26 considering the modernity of music selling and buying these days. She may get a top ten with ghosttown because it is a hugely accessible song that is capable of appealing to most people. The days of her getting 20 million sales of an album are long gone because people are always keen to move on to the next thing. Adele's 21 album may be the last massive seller. Things just don't seem favoured for the artists anymore. Downloads are instant and can obtained virtually anywhere, either legally or illegally. People want things NOW! Living for Love may not have been the massive hit but how many people actually have it without purchasing it?

I did listen to the leaked material, held off for as long as I could but eventually had to listen, can't believe some of the songs that have been left off the album. Revolution, Beautiful Scars, God is Love...

As I highlighted, this is about the single. The album won't flop but the single's success has been awful, and I'd be surprised if Ghosttown gets top 200 in the UK! She should have picked Rebel Heart as the 2nd single as it didn't leak until the album did.

Why do you think Ghosttown will fare worse than Living For Love?
