The most ironic thing is that dude from Empire is featured in the Ghosttown video! |

I can't wait to see the video for Ghosttown! I hope the song catches on and becomes a hit.

I can't believe how many people on here seem to be so obsessed with her getting a number one album. Getting a number one single or album means absolutely nothing anymore. As an example...take Beyonce's 'Drunk In Love'. The highest it reached in the charts was about number 6, however it remained in the top 20 for absolutely ages and outsold many of the songs that reached number 1 during its time in the charts. A number 1 means nothing anymore. Also, I just want to give my view on this whole era as an outsider...I do like Madonna but I'm not a die hard fan or even a big fan in general. However, I have to say that this era is going really well. As an outsider, it's coming across as very new and very fresh and it feels like she hasn't been this talked about in years. The album is being received really well and so many people are talking about her. Sometimes when you're a huge fan of an artist and you're keeping track of every little thing and every little sale, you can get so desperate for them to do well that any little bump in the road seems like they've flopped. Well Madonna definitely hasn't! She's doing very well. This is the first good album of hers in years. I've actually bought tickets to the tour, it's that good!

But if i am honest, i am disappointed in the performance. I like to see good work sell well. But i will eventually get over it and let the music speak.

You are right. There shouldn't be talk of any sales.

I just watched her on Ellen, and the original idea for the album was a double sided album one with 'Rebel" songs & the other with "Heart" songs but Interscope said no so it ended up a miss mash of songs.
I actually think the idea for double sided album would have been better! |

Rebel Heart was made to be a two sided album. Everyone guessed that from the start. Madonna fans are really in tune with her thinking. Interscope have been shit for Madonna. I bet she regrets leaving Warner now. I hope after this next album she leaves them.. hopefully she can rush something out so it happens sooner rather than later.

Well the Iron Maiden I'm referring to sold just short of 50k in it's first week - so Madge wouldn't have been number one that week. Also the week Bowie (60 year career) went to number one with 94,000 sales she would have struggled
![]() Also the Maiden album leaked 3 weeks early, not demo's but the full finished album. Bowie put his album up to stream for a day before release too.

The extra songs included on the super deluxe version of the album are now available on iTunes, the Play Store, and Spotify. I'm not sure if sales of the extras (as a collective) will count towards album sales? It's certainly an interesting development though.

I actually think the idea for double sided album would have been better! I personally don't like the sound of that. |

Saying that though, America have always loved ballad Madonna. Her biggest hits there have been some of her slower songs. |

Yeah I noticed that! It seems America is embracing Madonna again while the UK is in a strange place with her, oddly it was always the other way around!
Saying that though, America have always loved ballad Madonna. Her biggest hits there have been some of her slower songs. Look I've said it before but I'll say it again. From the moment I heard it, I did not think that L4L was the right choice for lead off single. I felt it was too narrow minded demographically, ie gay clubs and would not really bring in the casuals at THIS stage of her career. For me, the original Avicci version of Rebel Heart should have been lead. But, the ship has sailed and we all know she didn't reach her destination. BUT, Ghosttown is a different story. It's Instant, it's relatable and it attracts the causals. If this song can't be a hit, then I am not sure any Madonna song can in future..that's the bottom line and that's how much I think this song is good. There is even a little video on Ellen's website where this 5 year old girl with Autism names Ghosttown as her favourite Madonna song. I've said before, there are a lot of parralells with Bedtime Stories this era and I think Ghostown is this gen Take a Bow. |

When is the Ghosttown video due out?
Unless she performs it again in the UK I can't see catching on here sadly. Do Warner still hold the rights to release Madonna music or is all her material copyrighted to her alone? I'm surprised they haven't cashed in and released a #1's collection of her US and UK number 1 singles Like A Virgin - US #1 Crazy For You - US #1 Into The Groove - UK#1 Live To Tell - US #1 Papa Don't Preach - US/UK #1 True Blue - UK #1 Open Your Heart - US #1 La lsla Bonita - UK #1 Who's That Girl - US/UK #1 Like A Prayer - US/UK #1 Vogue - US/UK #1 Justify My Love - US #1 This Used To Be My Playground - US #1 Take A Bow - US #1 Frozen - UK #1 American Pie - UK #1 Music - US/UK #1 Hung Up - UK #1 Sorry - UK #1 4 Minutes - UK #1 That's enough to warrant its own collection so I'm surprised it hasn't happened. |

So, R2 have it as their record of the week? Does that mean it's on their A list? And, are R1 playlisting it? Their reasoning behind not playing L4L is that they "judge songs on merit, and never take the age of an artist into consideration".
Now, surely, if songs are judged on merit, and considering Ghosttown is virtually universally acclaimed, having it on R1's playlist, should theoretically be a foregone conclusion right? Yeah, thought so!
