Thanks for your comments. I have always made a point of not ranking her albums because as time progresses so does she. I did it purely for me to determine just how good Rebel Heart is. My ranking may well change once I play Ray of light or American Life again because I change my mind based on what i hear, how I feel and when I hear it! That's why it's impossible to rank her music. Bedtime Stories and Like a Virgin will always be at the bottom though. Bedtime Stories was a record forced upon her by Warner to try and appease the public after the Sex scandals of 1992 and 1993. She was very naughty back then. But with Madonna, you can tell in her work when something is forced upon her. Secret is one of her dullest singles to date. Anyway, once again, cheers for your comments.

1. Confessions On A Dance Floor
2. Ray Of Light
3. Music
4. American Life
5. Like a Prayer
6. True Blue
7. Hard Candy
8. MDNA
9. Like a Virgin
10. Erotica
11. Rebel Heart
12. Madonna
13. Bedtime Stories”

Ah it all kind of makes sense now why you struggle to warm to Rebel Heart as it does have a very strong Erotica vibe to it. I personally rate Erotica very high on my list and I instantly connect to a lot of songs on Rebel Heart.

Cheers to you too. I really enjoy your posts. I'm not that big on Secret, but it's funny because a lot of people who are casual fans or even not really fans at all seem to love that song. I have a friend who generally dislikes or is apathetic about most of her music but he loves Secret. I guess because it's the more conservative less threatening side of her. I think she should bring it back on a tour soon though because it's something more casual fans seem to love.

Great lists guys! I will have a go at ranking my favourite albums later when the office isn't as busy

Still can't get enough of Rebel Heart. I've had it on constantly for the past two days!

I think Rebel Heart is a really good album. Better than MDNA for sure.

The only criticism I have is the constant use of sexual innuendo/lyrics. I know Madonna is best known for this throughout her career but I do feel that now it's really not necessary AS MUCH. She really delivers on the slower/down-tempo tracks and I would like more of that rather than songs like 'Holy Water' & 'S.E.X'. Other than that, it's great for me

Its weird how some of the worst songs got a lot better, like Holy Water, which I now really really like..and some of the original good demos lost something, like the title track and Wash All Over Me.

Overall, it really is a return to form.

I think it's telling that Madonna is always divisive amongst her fans. Wash All Over Me in demo form just sounds like a "remix". Something that might appear on a single. But I didn't think, in that form, it was worthy of an album slot. Rebel Heart was, I strongly believe, deliberately altered because of, and in spit of, the leaks. I think she fell out of love with it because wasn't it originally meant to be track 7 in its demo version form? The demo sounds like a polished, finished version whilst the album version sounds like a demo! I still like it though but it is interesting that it has gone from a top notch production with fabulous appeal to a simplistic acoustic version and only available on the deluxe version. I think Avicci had something to do with the leaks because it seems strange that all the stuff that leaked that heavily featured him have been massively altered NOT to feature him. I guess we'll never know.

I agree re Rebel Heart - I truly think it would have been single #1. Well sorry Madonna - I'm sticking with it

Interesting theory about Avicci, maybe him and Madonna had a falling out. It does seem odd he has basically been wiped from the album. I guess that also explains why Revolution missed out on a place. I doubt that song could have been reworked without losing its original vibe.

The Super Deluxe is available to pre-order on Amazon.com but not yet on Amazon.co.uk. The US price is $26.99 so we could be looking at around £25.00 for it here in the UK. Also, Iconic is being released as a special grant track on Monday for those who pre-order the album via iTunes. So, from Monday 9 tracks will be available. What's the point of that? Where's the anticipation these days? The excitement, the curiosities. Why can't anyone of us just wait for things like we used to? Have we all abandoned the wonder of being surprised?

My favourite songs are probably:

Ghosttown
Holy Water (my favourite)
Inside Out

Really struggling to like anything past Rebel Heart. Apart from Addicted, perhaps

Wow what an album
It conjures up so many emotions, thoughts and so much more creativity.

I won't be ranking the album among her past albums just yet. I remember ranking MDNA rather high and that soon dropped down as time went on. Ask me in six months time, then i can deffo do a ranking of all her albums. But i will say, i rate this higher than Music and Confessions, as those two albums for me have always been my least fav.

Thanks

I would happily pay that

Ghosttown should never have been released with those initial 6 songs. It could have been a single in its own right. I wonder if it has now missed the chance? its her best ballad since The Power Of Goodbye. I love Messiah, which I suspect will be a single release, but I think Ghosttown edges it.

One man's trash is another man's treasure! I've been a Madonna fan since 1989 and Bedtime Stories is my favourite Madonna album....followed by Like a Virgin!

I'm looking forward to Rebel Heart and have avoided listening to the demos that have been circulating. This feels like the start of a good era for her. In my view, she hasn't made a brilliant album since Confessions ten years ago. So I have high hopes for Rebel Heart.

This makes me so excited. I've only heard the 5 released tracks and avoided all leaks, but I LOVE Erotica. I can't wait!

The whole era so far has that early 90s vibe about it.

Wonder what the tour will be called? I'm pleased she isn't rushing into it this time and is promoting the album first.

My ranking of Madonna's albums goes like this:

1. Erotica
2. Ray of Light
3. Like A Prayer
4. American Life
5. Bedtime Stories
6. Confessions on a Dance Floor
7. Music
8. True Blue
9. Madonna
10. MDNA
11. Hard Candy
12. Like A Virgin

Personally I think she was at her best from 1989-2003, when her music matured but before she started to chase commercial success to the detriment of her music. I haven't heard enough of Rebel Heart to make a decision yet but it does seem promising compared to her last two albums. Erotica is her most underrated album ever, the track 'Secret Garden' is a strong contender for my favourite ever song by her.

What tracks would you all like as singles? I hope Hold Tight is a future release. I would love to see a video for it. The beat is so hypnotizing, so much better than the demo version. It also has a 90s feel. So much of this album is 90s influenced.

9, MDNA
10, Madonna
11, Like a Virgin
