I'm a huge Madonna fan and have to go against the grain here but I don't like Ghosttown

I don't get it.

And Madge has had loads or nominations and a fair few wins at the Grammys....so not really overlooked at all.”

Crossed wires! I thought you just having a go at me because I dared to express an opinion about the album!

The wider perspective is that I can relate to the fans who do enjoy the album and can see that it has a metacritic score of around 70 which is not at all bad. I was trying to establish that just because I don't rate the album very highly compared to other Madonna albums, I do concede that as far as album releases in 2015 go, RH is a strong contender for grammy award even if it isn't my favourite. But, that is my bias talking no doubt, and there are probably many more albums released this year that may be better and more worthy, but the trouble is, I haven't heard of them so won't know! little-monster was expressing their devotion to the album and believes it to be strong enough for the grammy. I was agreeing because, unlike some posters, I am not blinkered and can appreciate how popular RH is amongst a lot of fans so was emphasising that my opinion is just that, an opinion, because the wider perspective suggests that the album is more popular than unpopular.

Lol at people quoting metacritic....seriously..as far as music goes, reviews are totally and UTTERLY irrelevant.

Oh, I totally agree. The real critics are the consumers. And for all the consumers who have purchased RH, the majority like it. But, the metacritic score is important to a degree, simply by its existence.

I tend to love films that movie critics hate and find films they praise highly a bit underwhelming. The same principles fall into music criticisms. The higher the praise, the higher the expectation. The higher the expectation, the bigger disappointment. I have learned a great lesson from Rebel Heart and all the hype upon its release. Don't be swayed by anyone or anything. Listen comprehensively and form a proper, fair, opinion.

i never listen to reviews now.
i used to, and sometimes got put off buying an album if i saw a bad review...but then i would buy it anyway.. and be like 'WTF was that review all about?'. usually the ones i read on digitalspy

Love this! haha its like a big **** you to those who want her to behave a certain way.

I actually hope she releases it as a single to annoy those who dislike it. I can see it happening giving its one of the most streamed tracks from the album.

That performance really put a smile on my face. Yes it was meant to be tongue in cheek but the energy level is through the roof. Can you believe this woman is nearly 60? I think this is Madge saying F all to all the ageist.

It isn't her best song by a long shot. But it is fabulous seeing her having so much fun performing. It is going to do nothing to stop the ageist comments though. But, fair play to her for sticking a metaphorical finger up to them!

There are quite a few links on his Youtube channel.

Love how she performed Holiday. SO much for her hating the song and never wanting to sing it again. Just goes to show some of the fake shite Madonna fans post about her.

don't ever worry about going against the grain...thats what i would say about Madonna fans...they are the most critical of her work. Her fans seem artistic, critical and intelligent. Which songs from the album do you like?

Not worked out to well for wizzywick, gave an honest opinion and few fans couldn't handle it. Reading what they wanted to read rather than what was actually been said.

Wrong. People questioned why in the space of a week Wizzywick went from pleading with people to buy multiple copies of the album to help its chart placing as well as claiming Rebel Heart was one of Madonna's best albums with personal lyrics and ballads that will haunt you to then turning around and saying the album is basically crap and Madonna wrote none of it.

Perhaps if views on that scale were consistent, and not so extreme in U Turn, people wouldn't have challenged it.

Anyway what are your views on the album? we only ever see you in these threads when you are having a go at Madonna fans so I would be interested in hearing your opinion on her music for once.

BIB: Read the blinking facts, you would know what I actually wrote then before condemning me. This is what I actually said:

That as I was excited to get the record I did a review on the day it came out and as an enthusiastic fan I was basically writing what I was feeling at the time. I didn't ever say it was crap, infact if you bothered to actually venture to the Madonna best album thread you will see it is around 7th on my list - actually mirroring many other fans choices. I never said she wrote none of it. I said "we mustn't pretend she had more input when infact on some songs her input was limited". I went on to say "it is telling that the songs she had the most input on are the ones I really like".

I would still love everyone to buy a copy and I will always be enthusiastic if it reaches the top ten again, whether it is my favourite Madonna album or not. I have also said that it is a very good album. But comparing it to other Madonna albums, it isn't a very good Madonna album. I gave it 2.5 out of 5. Neither good nor bad. Basically I felt there were too many songs to skip after several listenings in order to get to the ones you like.

But of course, you continue your spiteful and childish crusade of attacking people who dare to change their mind.

It's an okay album, wouldn't buy it, listened to it a couple of times on Spotify..personally I think it is an album made purely for the fans, probably won't attract many new fans, it hasn't grabbed me...not like LOP or ROL did.

Favourite Tracks: Ghosttown & Heartbreakcity.

Wizzy didn't say the album was crap, they still like the album, but not as good as originally thought...see reading what you want to read rather than actually looking at what was said

heartbreak city is one of my faves too... but i have a few....

Great album:
unapologetic bitch
rebel heart
inside out
addicted
heartbreak city
devil pray
ghosttown
hold tight
joan of arc
wash all over me
best night
body shop
messiah

I am fond of illuminati, beautiful scars and graffiti heart but the mix isn't quite as good as it could be.

I am fully expecting 'Bitch Im Madonna' as the next single ...but i do think it has potential to be a hit in the US. Maybe this is a signal that she is going to release a few singles as promo songs for the album...i do hope so! It is such a varied album!

Haha I hope it is. I quite like it now, the beat is crazy and Madonna not taking herself so seriously is funny. I do love how she refuses to act how people want her too, her inner 'rebel' is now well and truly back and I love it. I hope the video for it is just as crazy as that performance! I do think it will be a hit. It might have actually been a good choice as lead single. If it is released what's the betting she performs it with Nicki at the VMAs?!!

Well my favourite ballad from the album is Joan of Arc. Other songs I like are Illuminati, Iconic, Hold Tight, Holy Water, Inside Out, Veni Vidi Vici and Rebel Heart. I can listen to it all the way through. My sister borrowed it from me 2 weeks ago and it's been on repeat since.

Yeah!! I've noticed a lot of love for Bitch I'm Madonna which is surprising as her hard core fans seem to hate it but the casuals all seem to love it! ha

I think if she does release it then she could have a hit on her hands. I truly believe it should have been the first single now its streaming and the love for it can be seen for all. Maybe the label felt it would be too much of a risk as a launch song at the time.

Btw I love how she also sang Holiday!

maybe the fans aren't always right? For me hard candy is my least fave album ...but this album was the album that gained many new Madonna fans and listeners...

in response the radio 1 play...they said they would play her if they liked the song....which song is most radio 1 friendly? imo - illuminati, bitch i'm madonna, unapologetic bitch, hold tight are perhaps the most likely.

Finally got around to watching the Ghosttown music video and I think it's by far one of her best videos in years. A really beautiful piece of work.

I do despair that older artists don't do well simply because they are older. Says a lot about the mainstream music buying public and nothing good.

Perhaps you could be right.

About Radio 1, Kanye has said the song on his album with Madonna will be a single so I'm intrigued to see if Radio 1 add it to their playlist.
