I use quite a lot of mascara and eye liner and am looking for a good remover. Have been mainly using No 7's, manily because with the £5 off vouchers it only costs a couple of quid. But I dont actually think it's very good. I have to use it till my eyes are sore if I want to get up smudge free the next morning.

Anyone recommend a remover that will take it off in a couple of goes?

The best one is Simple kind to eyes, it's better than all others I've tried over the years.
It's cheap and usually on offer somewhere.

I use the Simple Kind to Eyes Remover Cream - the make-up remover itself made my eyes sting. I've used this for years, no trouble.

I did also try the Mary Kay Eye make-up remover (http://www.marykay.co.uk/en-GB/Makeu...d?eCatId=10545) which I liked although it was much pricier and I did go back to Simple (cause it's cheap and easy to get hold of!)

Back when I used to get dolled up, Klorane cornflower eye make-up remover was my preference. I haven't used it in years as I don't wear so much make-up and face wipes are enough to get the job done but, assuming the recipe hasn't changed, Klorane is the most gently cooling yet efficient remover I have ever used.

In fact, I may just treat myself to some.

A Model Recommends (Ruth Crilly) says the Boots Botanics one is very good. Retails about £1.99

Liz Earle cleanse and polish removes all my eye and face makeup nicely.

I have been using Simple, but it really does not remove Lancome Waterproof Mascara very well. I am now trying the Nivea one and it has definitely made a better job of it. My eyes feel more comfortable too.

My budget choice is Simple.

I love to use NIVEA® Daily essentials Double Effective Eye Make-up Remover. Would not swap it for anything. Gentle and effective at a sensible price

I dont know if they still do it but Johnsons & Johnsons do an eyemake up remover for under £5. That was excellent at taking off my make up.

Johnson's pads for me - if not Clinique.

Clinique 'Take The Day Off' eye make up remover. It's excellent.

I rely on cold pressed virgin coconut oil. It removes also the most obstinate of the waterproof makeup and it hydrates the eyes area in the process. It's really very gentle and in the long run it has a good effect also on the lashes which are left soft and well conditioned, easy to curl. Before "discovering" the coconut oil I have used for years the Nivea Express, the formula made of half oil half micellar water. In my experience the coconut oil beats that hands down.

Nivea face wipes. They are fantastic at removing any mascara and eyeliner. And anything else.

Don't think they do - I used to love that one as well! Lancome's is brilliant but pricey, I find Garnier Express 2 in 1 does a good job as well.

I use Eyeko Sport mascara which is absolutely bullet proof - I cry, swim, everything while wearing it, even walking on windy days when my eyes water, it never runs or smudges. The only thing that takes it off is the same make (Eyeko) remover. It's called MascaraOff - wipes - and they're brilliant.

I use a hot flannel. I know you are thinking that won't work, but it does. Just soak the flannel in hot water then ring out hard. It should be hot but not too hot because you are now going to press it to your eyes. Hold it there for about 20 seconds. put the flannel in the hot water again, ring out and repeat. This will soften and dissolve the eye make up so that with a little facial cleanser in warm water it will easily wash off. You can also use the flannel to gently exfoliate the skin on the rest of the face too (not the eyes)

Flannels cost 49p from Superdrug. I buy black ones because the make up will make light coloured flannels dingy quite quickly. I also have several so I can use a clean one every couple of days. They can get a bit smelly unless they are dried out promptly between uses.

This was a tip from an interview with Joan Collins I once read. Cheap as chips, no greasy residue and it works just fine.

Thank you for that. I didn't know you could still get Klorane products. I haven't seen them in years. I used to use a brilliant shampoo for blonde hair from Klorane. Thanks to this post I was reminded and googled it . And the product still exists.

I didn't find No7 eye make up remover very good either, made my eyes feel dry and sore afterwards. So I changed to Boots Botanics, it takes the eye make up of easily and smoothly and removes waterproof mascara as well, in a couple of swipes.

I use castor oil to remove eye makeup and then my Monsia cleanser and toner.
