I agree, it's supposed to be the most important element of the show. After all it's called 'The Jump'. It's the main event, it's the show's USP, and they can't even be bothered getting a decent measuring system.
If they have to keep falling back to the earlier events then forget about the jump, just call the show 'Celebrity Skiing' or something. Base the show around something they can actually measure. Because they can measure other events within hundredths of a second and they can measure the air jump with a degree of accuracy.
