This whole 'she's just saying what we all think' is so misleading. Yes maybe some of us have thought jeez you're fat - lose some weight ffs. But we don't feel the need to turn it into pseudo 'social commentary' in order to pay the bills because we can't get work anywhere else. Don't forget Hopkins has been sacked from several places due to misconduct and has miserably failed as a business woman. Personally, it would never have occurred to me to make a nasty comment about a nurse who had contracted Ebola while helping other people. It just wouldn't have occurred to me. So no - Hopkins doesn't just say what we're all thinking.

I've never come across someone like KH in life to be honest. I initially gave her a chance and thought all the crap she says in real life was just a way of making money and getting a reaction. But since seeing her in BB I keep coming back to the same conclusion: she's really a mean, ugly person that gets off on being that way. She's not even a Helen Wood type who would go mental and then reflect later and sometimes see her mistakes and at least try to look like she cared.

Not everyone is "nice" by default but very few people are "Katie Hopkins" by default either.

Hopkins can never be nice, she is just so vile and nasty and I have not got a clue why she has any fans at all!

I don't think that was what she was doing. She was worried that being accused of being up her arse was going to have the negative effect (in her eyes) of making him detach himself from Team Hopkins in order to gain himself back a little credibility. By 'comforting' him she was trying to keep him on side.

Physically i wouldn't be surprised if she was sporting a couple of organs of the male variety between her legs but mentally she doesn't.

KH is so obvious.....she is deliberately being nasty, provoking and outspoken as she thinks this is what the public want to see, especially with her being voted the 'most entertaining' in the house and 'most popular' in the house. She was soo quiet when she was in Im a Celeb, in the jungle. Its all one big act.

My cod-psychology is that KH hates herself and has no self-esteem. Because of this, she views the world through a paranoid-driven Machiavellian prism of "destroy or be destroyed".

Within that world-view the qualities of empathy, sympathy and compassion are foreign lands, as each require vulnerability, which she perceives as weakness rather than strength.

Heaven help her when her brittle shell finally cracks....

I think the conversation about the tweets was interesting. My personal opinion is that she really values herself and her opinions; she's effectively out of kilter by the standard of modern norms in that she's educated to a high standard, but very ignorant,

A lot of us are automatically attracted to the 'different'; but, to put it very simplistically, there's 'good' different and there's 'bad' different. H is 'bad' different.

Firstly I knew nothing about KH, never watched Apprentice, don't do twitter. So I was interested when she appeared on CBB, thought I could maybe get some sort of a handle on her. It wasn't until I read a guardian interview (sorry can't post links) that she made some sense. Basically, she was sponsored by MOD through university and Sandhurst, despite covering up her epilepsy, when it became apparent she was dropped.

So instead of being a high flying, orders shouting superior, she was suddenly out in the cold. It seems to me that she has been desperately trying to retrieve the ground ever since

Yes, that was an interesting exchange. Both apologised, both accepted and moved on. How grown up!! I would imagine that the worst insult for Hopkins is to be called 'boring'. She could probably cope with anything other than that. So for her to concede that she called him worse was magnanimous.

I'm beginning to see why Hopkins is popular in the house. She reduces things to their core state - makes them black and white - and that must be a very attractive and powerful option in there. I'm not sure that I wouldn't fall for it as well. She exudes the exact amount of self-confidence and bravado to carry it off.
Meanwhile....Perez is a total nutcase. But he has the occasional brilliance that takes him into a league that Hopkins will never attain. Of course she would say she'd never want to be in that league. But..... she would, really. She just never ever will. Stuck with her hockey sticks forever and ever.
