I'm with Vodafone as it's the only service around here.
If I put my sims in my old Nokia or Sony Ericsson feature phones I get near to max signal but in my Acer Z4 it has one or two bars but often no signal at all and as I use it for work I'm sure I lose some business. At the moment I'm back on the Sony.
Is there a way of telling from the specs whether one phone is better at reception than another? I like Sony but don't want to pay a lot and get the same result. I'd rather stay with the oldie.
Thanks

Sounds like the Acer has a fault. Nothing worse than a deaf handset. I took an Experia Z2 back because it didn't pick up as well as the phone it was replacing they tried another which was fine

Thanks for replying,
I'll stick with the old phones and send it off to Acer for checking.

Best in mind some phones measure signal differently, the one or 2 bars could have been the equivalent of 4 or 5 in the old phone. Mind you, I suspect the old feature phones are still better at holding onto a weak signal than some smartphones! Did you have any problem with signal despite it showing less?

Are the old phones 3G?

Hi,
Since going back to the old phones there is never a "no signal" as on the Acer and calls are crystal clear.
You're probably right about better at finding and holding a signal.

Hi Stig,
The old phones are Sony Ericsson K530i which is 3g and a Nokia 6110 from 1997 so doubt it.
Waiting for a response from Acer on it.
Have to say it isn't too bad using the K530i, never misses a beat and I don't need internet and apps so might even keep it going. The only drawback is texting but don't do a lot of that.
Thanks for the replies
