Katie Hopkins a 'winner'...?

The bookies are usually pretty accurate, and punters have her favourite to win. I see she is also favourite on the poll on here.
Amongst whom though is she popular; what type of person? Who could possibly want to see such an ignorant and deliberately offensive person rewarded as a 'winner'? I realise that winning big brother is hardly a badge of honour, but even so She's like a female bernard manning, though her crass and offensive comments (tweets that are generally racist, prejudiced, ignorant - about everything from nationality to suicide - are her genuine views; she doesn't attempt to excuse them as black comedy/gallows humour).
So are the majority of people who vote on big brother kindred spirits of hopkins, ie equally as narrow minded and ignorant as she is? Perhaps this is all a big experiment (like the one she did ridiculing fat people) where she attempts to prove there IS truth in the middle 'engurland' stereotype, and she's going to expose it all in it's grotty/daily mail esque glory at some point? I really am stumped on this one.

It is pretty certain that Katie will finish in the top 2 at least but that isn't the intent of your post I suspect. Katie Hopkins has a sense of humour that a large portion of the public appreciate, even if you don't.

Most of what she says is said "tongue in cheek" and whilst the more sensitive souls can take offense, her intention is to verbalise what many "normal" people are thinking. Let me give you an example...

You are walking down the pavement in a hurry to get to work. In front of you is a rather obese woman, carrying shopping bags who is preventing you from passing. A perfectly normal person would think to themselves "I wish this fat person would get out of my way or at least lose some weight so that I can pass". Now no-one would say that sort of thing out loud and what Katie Hopkins does is to actually say it or write it in her blog.

It is a mute point as to whether Katie should put words to the thoughts or whether she should bite her lip like most of us do, however there is a sense of comedy about someone having the balls to put words to some thoughts.

How do you know that for a fact?

She does say what people think out loud, at some point or another there is one comment she says that we have thought. I know I have agreed with a few over the years. Some I have disagreed with. Kaite P over the years has said some direct stuff, so has Perez. It's just whether you have that same opinion of what they are on about at that give time.

BIB Does that also apply to a couple walking together, or a mother holding the hand of her small child, or an elderly person with a walking aid. When did people become so impatient and intolerant.

Making this woman a winner is a vote for intolerance, racism, bigotry and, yes, bullying.

From the first night I said she would win. Nasties always triumph on BB these days.

ZX50.

All the smart money is for Katie Hopkins (over 1/4 £million on one betting site).

The polls (on every major website) says she is the most popular (by some margin) and that mark has been consistent for a couple of weeks

I think it's a forgone conclusion that Hopkins will win, that's the kind of show BB has become. The main entertainment now comes from the HMs ripping chunks out of each other and no-one can deny Hopkins has given her all in this respect.

I didn't bother watching BB last night but instead watched The Jump. What a refreshing change it was, celebs competing against each other but at the same time supporting each other and having a laugh. They might have been risking life and limb but I saw more fun and laughter in one hour of The Jump than I've seen in 3 weeks of this year's CBB.

The winner won't be decided by the edit or who has the most fans or who has been the nastiest\rudest\most controversial, it will be the person who performs the best.

I like Katie and think she has been a good housemate. However, I don't think either she or Perez will win as both are too "marmite". I think Keith will win.

Nobody knows what anyone else is thinking unless they tell you so these attempts to pretend that spiteful attitudes are excusable because everyone shares them ( and so they can't help having them or it's 'natural') won't wash.

During the last summer series they got pretty much every single one wrong.

I don't understand why people put faith in the bookies, they don't know anymore than we do, it's just guess work. There is a reason it is called gambling.

I wish people would stop saying this. It's like one of the many excuses to make her comments seem acceptable.

Exactly. We don't all think that way. It's only 'natural' to those that do and it's still nasty.

Does it matter what's she done outside of the house? Who should win CBB is the question and for me, she should, based on her time in the house. If you're going to pre-judged housemates before they go in then the vote is pointless.

Seriously???

I'm laughing at this post and I know it's for the wrong reasons. But there we go.

BIB. Do you really believe that is how people think? And "A perfectly normal person"???

With respect, I think perhaps you best speak for yourself.

I wouldn't dream of thinking like this about an obese person.

I'm not obese BTW.

Oh yes it's perfectly normal for us all to have less than pure thoughts, after all we have no control over what pops into our head at any given time (whilst walking down the road, or whatever). Our thoughts aren't US though; having a thought pop into your head that a person is fat means nothing, how you behave and respond to your thoughts (and to people) is what makes a person. Your own character, sense of humanity if you like - that ability is what separates us from the animals.

Hopkins actually isn't merely saying what we're all thinking, and if that is what she claims then it's a simple case of her judging people by her own poor standards.

The odds have narrowed over the last 24-48 hrs. Cheggars is now virtually joint fave and I can only see him improving from here.

It is pretty basic, school playground level, so maybe a case of more people understanding it than if there was someone in there with clever dry wit, which I really wish we did have in there.

I don't understand why people get so hung up on what Katie says. She is one person in a world of millions and there are far worse things to worry about. I don't really care what she says as it doesn't have any affect on my life.

Well i could say the same thing to you about the things Perez says. You said Perez should have been thrown out of the house because of what he said to Calum so i don't see how you are in any position to say who should and shouldn't be offended by what someone says.

Whether she should say or not say is the point, it's why people dislike her (whether they agree with the particular opinion or not). I don't even think it's a case of 'biting her tongue'....the insults I've seen her give out haven't been said in the heat of the moment, but are deliberate choices to demean someone else - she choses to voice such an opinion when she's not angry, when there's no need for it, when nothing beneficial will come from it apart from hurting that person. Her intentions are therefore mean and designed to hurt others. This is what puts people off Katie H even more than that opinion itself (even although those opinions are usually always negative anyway)

As I said in another thread, while I may agree that Alicia might not be very intelligent, I don't enjoy seeing her mocked publicly for it. Same goes for her mean spirited comments about Katie Ps love life, mocking Patsys insecurities, Perezs weight etc. I find all that meanness not only unecessary and cruel, but not pleasant to watch for the person it's aimed at. The fact many find it 'comical' or 'entertaining' baffles me.

I should have made myself clearer - I was referring to what they say OUTSIDE not in the house.
