He went too far but I think he had every right to call Katie H out on what she did to him.

I have to admit my jaw did drop a little at that .... I kind of understand what he was trying to get at but that was not the right comparison.

The analogy is regarding feeling ostracised. Not the actual disease or the suffering that comes with it. It was a bit OTT and I can u derstand Michelle being upset by it.

He's pointing out feeling excluded makes him feel different in a negative way similar to how gays felt in the 80s during the AIDS scare when people were afraid of them.

Believe you me. They are definitely not! I nursed people with AIDS (as it was called then - Perez didn't even use present day terminology) in the 80's and like Michelle saw lots of people we got to know and love die. There is absolutely, definitely no comparison. Try walking around in San Francisco seeing young men with Kaposki's Sarcoma not even getting medical treatment and being ostrascised by a whole nation and you will know what it is to witness real suffering.
