You've taken his comment out of context. I have to laugh as the outrage in this thread.
He basically meant they way he has been shunned and others have been encouraged to shun him made him feel how aids sufferers in the 80s were shunned for having a disease.

Over-reacting much? Time to step back I think

Have you witnessed anyone die of a HIV related illness? Its not nice and certainly not an overreaction.

Yes I did get the point he was making but that doesn't stop if being an offensive analogy and a complete over statement of his situation - a situation he was the author of by the way.

People not liking you because they feel like you are acting like a dick compared to people who are ill being ostracised - really!?

I agree with you. .was just a typical perez comment highlighting how he felt ostracised from the group. .he was not comparing his suffering to that of someone who has aids..

People are deliberately misinterpreting it because it suits their agenda. It is blatantly obvious what he was saying. And trust Michelle to make it about her, I'm sure Perez has also lost people and friends too.

I remember earlier on someone actually called him cancer now that was offensive, but finding an analogy for how he was ostracised wasn't. I remember those times and I can completely see what he meant.

Perez was the one who spoke about someone being a cancer which imho was disgusting.

Someone called him a cancer too I just can't remember who did it. It would be disgusting who ever said it and much of what Perez has said I don't agree with but it's the OTT way everyone reacts to him that really shocks me.

All about the context really.”

That's exactly what he was meaning. Seems some people are clutching at every straw going here.

Someone called him Anthrax. Comparing his situation to an Aid sufferer in the 80s is not far off. The original saying used to be 'I feel like a Leper'.....that's probably gone out of date.

Now if you watched/listened properly you'll know that's not what he meant.

During the 80's people were very afraid of AIDS and didn't really understand how it was contracted. AIDS suffers were often shunned and alienated - he said that was how he was feeling.

Rather like EBOLA nowadays I'd think - but the Hopkins knows all about ridiculing and being cruel to EBOLA victims doesn't she.

The hypocrisy of the woman knows no bounds.

Perez has manipulated the show form the start IMO, I can see he probably watched the last CBB - poor American being bullied and isolated- (Only GB was a kind hearted soul who didn't deserve to be spoken to like he was) Perez seems to have gone out of his way to play a game where he upsets, annoys, taunts other HMs into losing their cool, or walking, or getting thrown out- his antics are those of someone who really has mental issues..OR is playing a huge game.
Now, (He watches the show in his mind to see how it looks, he has said)he deems it the peak time to start the poor me act, the victim- hoping his constant badmouthing KH and twisting everything, and what everyone has supposedly said, to make himself look the victim- pure game play, I recall how Helens journey went from bully, big mouth, to reformed character, learning her lesson (NOT) and the GBP loved that
Perez is playing the same game- the voer acting tears, comparing himself to AIDs sufferers, it beign worse than his father dying..blah blah..
trouble is people seem to have short memories - he intentionally set himself up from the start- and that's the good side..if not, and this is really him - I pity him

How anyone can defend this statement is beyond me. Wasn't this the guy who compared another house mate as 'a cancer'. He is a disgusting man who should think before he speaks.

Ah you are right I made a mistake thought it was cancer, just as nasty though really.

And yes you are right I doubt some of them would even know what a leper was so the AIDs analogy was better.

Its not about the AIDS victims it about how they were treated in the 80's people won't even shake their hands or use the same toilet seat.

Some people need to read this.

Yep, he could just as easily said the way you shunned me and encouraged others to shun me was like I had the plague or something.
However, he used something that those in the house would know about and whilst I didn't think it was awesome... his comment was taken out of context by Michelle and those who just want to bash him with outrage and resentment.

I've used a similar analogy before..to describe someone who caused me deep suffering. My dad told me that I was rotten to the core for my choice of analogy, I told him that how I feel can never be wrong. If you cannot understand it, walk a mile in my shoes... and see if you still think I am rotten to the core.
It's not a nice thing to say or feel about someone, but it for me at the time was the politest way to put my feelings into words.

Personally my blood was boiling. I agree people were and STILL are ostracised. HIV research has come on in leaps and bounds but I have friends with the virus and they still get shit from shallow minded people. Perez statement made sense it was just extremely distasteful. As was the cancer statement.

We can all be pretty sensitive when an analogy or something touches a nerve about people we know or something we have gone through. I am sorry if it did that to you but we can't stop people using analogies etc because of that if we did we could never say anything for fear it will upset someone.
