The HMs might have better understood the phrase, "Jungle Book-dude".

Can't believe she just quoted that poem to him, surely her own words would have been more fitting! It's a nice enough poem.... but to be quoted in the BB house, off all places, well it came across as particularly mawkish imo.

She might as well have just wrote:-

"Can't be arsed, dude you're not going to win. From Mum"

I know. Pathetic that people don't know it.

I didn't hear the letters. Was Cami's the nutritional advice on the back of a Cornflakes box?

So instead she comes across as a 'can't be arsed' mum so she can be torn apart online. I don't think anyone would have torn her apart for writing a nice Mum's proud of you loves you to bits type letter. It didn't need to contain personal information to be personal.

That's how I took it as well. If it was a favourite poem than perhaps quote just a couple of lines.

It is Kipling's poem called, If.

Copied by a mother too lazy to write her own letter.
Like Mother, like son?

Ah, music to my ears.

Just a quick question to everybody on here. Does anyone think that Calum actuallly understood the words to the poem and what it meant, or do you think he will have thought it sounded cool because it had lots of long fancy words in it?

Come to think of it, how many housemates do you think understood the poem, and which ones do you think didn't have a clue what it meant?

I only ask because I'm not exactly convinced that these people are the type to listen to poetry readings. I'm not sure that these people are the right audience for poetry and that it's quite possibly not exactly the sort of thing they'd normally read.

I think the part that says, 'If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you' is very apt for the BB house! Spot on, Angela!

He did say it was a 'beautiful poem' - and I'm sure he would have read it in private afterwards to take it in properly.
& I'm sure he will be able to just disregard Perez's shit-stirring about the words in the poem. (douchebag)

I don't think he's as dense as some people think he is.

I've been impressed with him in there, particularly how cool he has remained most of the time - but when pushed he DOES stand up for himself.

Cool dude.

It went way over the housemates heads. Many baffled faces.

They would probably have thought it was a Disney poem then.

A beautiful poem & very apt to his situation She was sending him a message.

I doubt if it was the first time his mother had quoted it to him - this poem may well have a history between them.

Interesting to see which HM's understood the significance of the words.

Perez certainly did !! Unfortunately, Calum went running to KH telling tales - which defeated the purpose of his mother sending it
