I think that's possible... no?

I mean because that is the debate when it comes to ADHD isn't it? Is it a 'condition' or a set of symptoms that can be caused by varying reasons?

Nobody denies the behaviours defined by ADHD exist but there is that area of greyness argued by some as to whether ADHD is a condition that causes these behaviours or whether these behaviours are caused by a variety of other reasons/influences/conditions.

I personally think ADHD is one of those conditions that SOME doctors just slap around way too easily and as a result there are a lot of plain old misbehaving kids that don't have ADHD at all being labeled as such. That is a disservice to those who really do have ADHD and struggle to get a proper diagnosis and treatment, and find understanding in the day to day world. Katie Hopkins saying that she doesn't "believe" in it is probably her most insensitive and ignorant statement to date.

Not "believing" in something does not make it less true. Katie saying that she doesn't "believe" in ADHD is up there with the ignorance of those that don't "believe" climate change.

Thanks to ADHD becoming ridiculously over diagnosed, it has became a bit of a non-illness. I know I don't really take ADHD overtly seriously anymore anyway.

I believe it exists but not in the abundance people would have us believe.

It is coming to the stage now where anyone shows any signs of difference from other people, in regards to behaviour or how they interact with others the medical profession and the loony leftie do gooders out there have to put a label on it, or say it's a "condition" ....Children who are hyper active or have attention difficulties just need a healthier diet and some stern parenting to correct that...not told they have a "condition, or disorder" .

It's a modern day PC way of bringing up children or dealing with difficult people...instead of dealing with the issues head on they get labelled with a "condition"...it's lazy thinking IMO.

The most embarrassing part was when Michelle said, seriously, "I've been diagnosed with it"

Hopkins flippantly throws over her shoulder, "Who hasn't ?"

... and how does Michelle, great defender of equality respond ?

"Yeah. It is over diagnosed"

Michelle said that the only person she can disappoint is herself

... she's surely achieved that by now

My sister in law diagnosed her son with having it when in fact he only behaved like a brat with her. Whilst there are genuine cases a lot of people are bad parents and use it as an excuse.

There are genuine cases of ADHD
And Katie H has just tarred a whole group of society with the same brush.

There are also children out there whose parents never say stop it, ,no you can't have that or take their child out of a party when they have hit the fourth child in a 2 hour time span..

.Some children learn boundaries easily..Some push it more testing your patience to the limits but who said being a parent was easy..only easy if you turn your back and ignore! That's when I believe some children are labelled as ADHD when in fact mum needs to take the reins ...For her child's benefit.

Nice to see the Hopkins act is still having the effect she likes.

I have a son who's Autistic can have his moments but never
Diagnosed with ADHD.Some of the comments on here are typical of people who have no real understanding of some these conditions, you will be amazed of how lovely members of the British public and of quite well to do backgrounds can be very judgemental to your face...my offer to them is always the same "your quite welcome to come and live our lives for 24hrs". And we have 4 other kids who have had no other problems growing up.

Unfortunately these attitudes will always be around. And it makes wonder who's is normal in this wonderful world...

The funny thing is that I think what we saw was mainly a result of how idiotic Katie is in how she presents her arguments more than her simply not having reasoning at all.

Michelle stated a similar yet subtly different position--that ADHD is overdiagnosed--much more clearly and Katie seemed to agree after the fact that it's more of what she actually meant. But Hopkins being Hopkins--a bull in a china shop seemingly on PURPOSE--she chose to state her position as a blunt total denial that made it sound like every person on the planet with ADHD was a liar.

Rather than making me angrier with Hopkins, this finally made me sad for her. Because either she's SO desperate to get ink/tv time that she has to frame positions that MIGHT make sense if they weren't stated so extremely and backed immediately by logic instead of simple declarations, or she's got some mental/psychological condition that disallows her from delivering a point of view with shading to it (so maybe that's yet another way she's like a mirror of Perez, who has his own boatload of mental and psychological problems).
What name??

So agree I could say that I've been diagnosed with it but it doesn't mean I've got it like Michelle said. Doctors are known to get things wrong. All kh said is that she doesn't believe in it what is wrong with that it's her opinion like we've all got one

Does that mean that you were diagnosed with ADHD after eating those Haribo's or is your opinion based on something more objective than that?

God the ignorance of some is astounding.

Probably the same people who scrape frost off their cars in the morning and then make rolling eyes and jokes about "Global warming" to their neighbour.
