18 years on.....Such a poet has never hit the mainstream like 2pac!

The dude was complex. He lived the bad/good existance. And showed it. He was a great poet, rapper, actor. His stuff MEANT something. Biggie told a story, 2pac lived his own stories!

The first solo song of his i listen to - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRWUs0KtB-I

I was listening to a lot of the 'rap' now, and by fu*k........Nothing comes close to 2pac!

Couldn't disagree more. A vastly overrated MC who has been been canonised since he died young because of his tough-guy image and Black Panther credentials. He simply captured a lot of people's imagination. But different strokes etc.

Yet his rap verses sometimes read like a poetry. The guy was incredibly gifted and intelligent.

I like a lot of Pac's stuff but I have to say I probably ultimately prefer Nas.

Who would you say is better than him in his chosen field?

He was originally a poet at school. Theres a book of his poems.

I do not think he was overrated, but I actually think his best work was Me Against The World. A lot of people think All Eyez On Me was his best album and in a commercial sense perhaps it was. However, I believe that the former showed Tupac at his most creative, eloquent and mature as an artist. Me Against The World had a mixture of sensitive tracks such as 'Dear Mama,' 'If I Die Tonite,' and 'So Many Tears.'You also had the strong beats and rhythm of 'Temptations.'
