Detangling hair after beach - hair product recommendations pls
Hi all,
I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to hair products so please help. I have very straight Asian hair which looks and feels like utter crap when I have been in the sea. I was in the Brasilian beach sea over Christmas and New year, and I am going back to Brasil next week, so I want to be properly prepared. Is there something I should be putting on my hair before I go into the sea? And what should I do with it after? Do I use normal de-tangler or is there something specifically for the beach? I went to Boots and Superdrug yesterday but I all I could find was some salty hairsprays that emulate the effect of being in the sea - the exact opposite of what I am looking for! One of the women I was with sprayed her hair with something and brushed it through after getting her hair wet in the sea, but I cannot ask her what it was she was spraying because she doesn't like me. Please, can you recommend me some products? For hair in hot climate + sea water. |

All you need is a good pre shampoo treatment, slather it on before your day at the beach then shampoo out when you're done for the day. I use these:-
Philip Kinsley Elasticizer OJon Burt Bees treatment Or you could use a good conditioning mask. When you're ready to shampoo it out your hair should feel very soft and should detangle easily. Don't be tempted to use something like coconut oil or any other type of oil as it'll cook in your hair with all that heat. |

I'd recommend Ojon too.

Thanks for the tips.
Especially the one about not using oil...I may have been tempted to use it - not a good idea in 39c heat!! |

There's a product called Philip Kingsley Swimcap which protects against sun, chlorine and salt water. I think it's available in Marks and Spencers. I think you put it on before you go to the beach or pool. |

Also I would put conditioner in it and brush through then rinse out. Any conditioner for your hair type would do, most brands do a for coloured/normal/dry/etc section. |
