UK Mobile Data Traffic Tops 0.9 ExaBytes in 2014 as Avg Speeds Hit 2.5Mb
http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php...hit-2-5mb.html Quote:
According to the report, the average mobile-connected end-user device generated 961 MegaBytes (MB) of mobile data traffic per month in 2014, which is up 55% from 619 MegaBytes per month in 2013, and this will reach 7,257MB per month by 2019.
It will be interesting to see how data allowances change with users using more and more data.

This seems very wrong.
Total use in 2013 was under 300pb for mobile. Yet that above article suggests it was more than double. |

I know its from Cisco who are very reputable. However I do have to question the methodology used here or whether the author of this article has misinterpreted anything.
As enders analysis would disagree with this figure and they get data usage figures straight from operators. |

Just done the math using the 961mb and 56.4m data users and the total is a lot closer to ~650pb which is a lot more accurate if not a bit high.
2013 comes to ~400pb which again Is a bit too high compared to enders analysis results of ~300pb for 2013. It seems like 74.2pb was a peak month that this article has used to make the headline rather than using the actual numbers in the article. |

According to BEREC (the Body of European Regulators who are advising the EU on the implementation of free roaming), the average data use in the UK in 2013 was 301MB/month although this will be an average of all subscriptions including non data users.
Incidentally the weighted average in the EU was 292MB /month. Big differences across countries though. Lowest was Hungary at 19MB. Highest was Sweden at 1663MB. |

Unless non MBNL networks used an incredible amount.. This I know to be good bit inaccurate.
Is one measuring handsets and the other measuring all end devices? It would explain the huge difference but still be way off the mark. |
