Its quite hard to play the 'fun' card right enough, when theres a clique who have not only nominated you, but where the leader of the clique makes it her 'game' to ostracise you and beckons the others to do the same in front of you (and they follow like the amoral sheep that they are.) Then giggles and bitches like a twelve year old school girl (although her behaviour was actually an insult to most twelve year old school girls that I know) after shes been 'caught'
I'm no Katie P fan, and accept that its quite likely she may well have been as dull regardless, but I appreciate how difficult (near impossible) it is to be funny or interesting when you know the others don't like you, are actively trying to avoid you, don't find you interesting and are mocking you behind your back. Can you imagine being a relaxed, interesting and bubbly person if you were surrounded by that? I know I certainly couldn't - I think only an insane extrovert like Perez could carry it off!
The same happened with Keith...if you see him in the beginning, as cheesy as his jokes were, he was bringing light relief to the house and enjoyed doing it. His delivery was good because he was relaxed and confident and felt he was entertaining them. The minute Katie H belittled his jokes and called him boring, all that stopped. Its one thing to say 'I'm not going to let this get me down' and it can be done, but its very difficult to pull off being funny, when you no longer feel that you are, because you can't muster up the relaxed confidence you should have when delivering the joke when you already know the audience don't like it and have demeaned you with it. I think its quite sad how Hopkins sucked the light-hearted humour from him.
