I loved the Calum fury tonight, Perez craves any attention and to be called a c*nt in the process must have made his day

Can you imagine standing in the shadows of the legacy of a man like that? Beyond that you have to remind yourself that the man was an alcoholic so Calum came from a broken home really, and I've seen first hand how these kind of dysfunctions can affect individuals. You put this all together, as well as his father's early death, and yeah, I can see why Calum is the way he is at times. Don't like or dislike the chap, but can understand certain aspects of him if that makes sense?”

Oh man, that's not fair. Coming in here with your lovely reason and admirable empathy, giving me the feels. I was enjoying hating on him so much and now that's all gone

Yes, I agree - when I see that pack mentality taking over - blatantly led by Katie H, or last season by Helen, I very quickly support the underdog.

If it were the other way around and the majority of housemates supported Perez against Katie H, I would probably be a fan of hers!!!

It looked like Calum was auditioning for the part of one of the Mitchell brothers in a US version of Eastenders.

Ah, it's just a crazy set of circumstances for Calum. Bestie was a one off, a genius really. My father idolised him and older relations I have from Manchester area still idolise him, saying he was the greatest that they've ever seen. Sure the press called him the fifth Beatle for f eck sake. He was a cultural phenomenon and he drank himself to an early grave. Must still have a profound effect on Calum in so many ways.

God, don't be saying that please. Love an underdog story but that's too much.

He snapped because he knew Perez had seen through his gameplan then afterwards he started to panic and needed assurance from Kav and Michelle because he knew he'd let his mask slip.

I also liked how he tried to distance himself from Cami in his convo in the kitchen with Kav after she'd left. He said about how he felt like he had to defend her as she was his friend, in other words trying to make out that he didn't always agree with her actions but had to be loyal to her. He's a total gameplayer and he's now worried that his position is under threat as Cami was unpopular and he was close to her so he had to give that little tidbit in the kitchen to try and distance himself from her.

Perez has him sussed and he does not like it one bit!

My mother adored Georgie, still cries when she see's clips of him. Cool story, my mam was around 12 and Northern Ireland came down to Swansea to play a friendly against Wales at the Vetch Field (The Super Swans old ground if you didn't know!). The NI team were going to be training in Llandarcy, a place about a 10 minute walk from where we live, BUT my mam was meant to be in school. Sooo she forged a letter from her parents, saying she had to go home early as she had a dentist appointment, left school and went down to the training ground and got Georgie's autograph.

She was on cloud 9, especially because she thought she'd got away with skipping school. The next day, front page of our local paper, my mam standing next to Georgie with a beaming smile as he signed her autograph. She was suspended from school for a week and my grandparents just went 'We could have chained you to the bed and you'd still have got out!'.

Sorry, had to give that story! I wanted to like Calum so much but I just can't, I am disappointed.

Nice story and yeah, I remember queuing at a book signing of his for hours and hours, and this was probably twenty years after he'd left United. Still drawing massive crowds. Mental stuff.

Read your other comment about Calum and yeah, he is into self preservation mode to a certain extent when it concerns Cami. There's an element of gameplaying going on, that's for sure, but Michelle and Katie leave him in the haypenny place on that count. Think he's a fella that's still very unsure of himself in life really.

Oh yeah, Michelle and Katie are definitely bigger gameplayers than him. I think maybe some of what Perez has said regarding two people being fake has started to dawn on him and he's realised that he's been taken for a ride and used by Katie and Michelle as nothing more than a pawn in their gameplan. I think once they are all out of the house the likes of Kav, Calum and Cami will watch it back and realise that they were just pawns as far as K and M were concerned.

But the thing that interests me about Calum is that I don't think he ever liked the drama or tension whereas Cami - and Kavana to a lesser extent- reveled in the commotion, you know? She really enjoyed it. Kavana runs with the hares(is that the expression?). I don't sense those kind of tactics with Calum..... just think he's a bit insecure and easily led, that's all. Plus he wants to be liked and that leads to situations like we have now.

Calum has consistently displayed joy at others discomfort and pain throughout this series.

Even when his pal Kav was having to sing the tweets about himself, and was clearly taking emotional hits. The expression on Callum's face was that of 'enjoyment.'

It seems people are that desperate to like someone, anyone, that history is being re-written to make someone semi-likable.

At first it was but then it changed.

This ^^ shows just how much the good ole BB producers manipulate how we see them. I don't believe atall that it's been constant conflict all day every day.
Nadia seemed shocked that her fun times (of which she said there were many) didn't appear to have been shown, or her long and interesting conversations with Perez.

Agree planets, however anne_666' s post below provides a salutary reminder.

See link in post below for contra-evidence to your stance.

Calum made it quite clear how he felt about Cami leaving. It gives him space to be himself again, he confided to one housemate, just like when he first came in the house. Like we remember his scintillating contribution in Week One!

I could never stick George Best. It's like father like son as far as I am concerned. Both of them quite unable to deal whatever it is they have to deal with in life without resorting to nonsense.

Has he? I don't remember much him being that sadistic when it concerned other people being in pain and as for the whole Kavana thing, I think that smile was from nerves and amazement at how bizarre and mental that whole situation was. Don't forget he was first to talk to Kavana afterwards and was calling the whole thing "brutal" while it went on.

Look, I'm not defending him here; just trying to understand him since I don't think he's as devious or deliberate as some of the others. But yeah, can't be in the top 3.

Desperate? Read back on my posts - I have no desire to sway people's opinions on the guy since I've stated already on a few occasions that he's acted like a wally in there. Just trying to have a reasonable discourse rather than indulge in hyperbole.

Desperate in the sense of without hope.
I didn't mean you personally Crash, i meant that in a year of mainly unlikeable HMs, a lot of people are fed up of unpleasant people ruling the roost, even i'm 'desperate' to find someone likeable. Callum has mainly been a bore, with the odd temper tantrum over nothing much. He's been spineless. Comparatively he's not as ghastly as some in there but that doesn't make him an interesting or likeable HM for me, and quite a few other FMs.
Whilst it's lovely to read how people have wonderful memories of George Best, it doesn't make Callum look any less foolish when he loses his cool over being teased about his shoes.
He comes across as entitled without having anything to back up the attitude.
Nice little dig about hyperbole from one wanting to be reasonable.
