I'm just considering this now, and the thought occurred to me that perhaps there is genuinely something a bit wrong with her. In that it may be the case that she seriously can't accept the idea that if Keith nominated her he can also feel for her because of the manner in which she was evicted. She doesn't seem to think it's even possible that he could feel empathy for her. It may be that she genuinely can't comprehend that.

Now for me that is slightly scary that somebody can actually be like that. It would mean that they would need to have absolutely no concept of what empathy is or what it feels like.

Okay, I accept all that, but I would say that demonstrates unintelligence.
To shut out information and put blinkers on because of bias or prejudice, and to be mentally lazy, I'd say that is indicative of a lack of intelligence.
I suppose it depends on who or what intelligence is measured by. It also depends on where the bar is set to determine the cutoff point between intelligent and unintelligent.

There is a huge difference between knowledge and intelligence.

I think Katie is 'book smart' with a wider vocabulary than her HMs and possibly a higher IQ than some (i.e. quantitative reasoning, storage and processing, using acquired knowledge, reading and writing, etc).

BUT, the crux of this debate IMO, the paradox, is her remarkably low Social Intelligence. It's clear that her poor performance in this area brings down her overall intelligence to the point where she appears dense.


This would explain her myopic view when she opines on other people, her inability to consider context and nuance, her behaviour towards others, and her poor responses when challenged.

In the Social Intelligence sense, she actually IS stupid. Far more so than her other HMs.

It might also explain why some of us have considered her to be on the sociopath spectrum. Empathy is a marker of Social Intelligence. Check this out...

Great comment. I agree she appears to lack emotional or social intelligence. She has a well spoken accent and is educated to a reasonable standard but this does not mean she is this so called "very intelligent" person that we keep hearing about.

To be truly emotionally intelligent you need a form of wisdom - and she has none.

The fact that she had the same thought process as Perez during the letters task says everything for me.

I genuinely expected her to be intelligent, but turns out she's a dip-sh*t.

I think she knew what she was doing there. She was winding Keith up to push his buttons so that he may do or say something to tarnish his image and therefore lessen his chances of winning...

I think it's obvious that she has a very high level of social intelligence. She has shaped her groups dynamics and is unquestionably their leader. She can also maintain relations with the other group. She bonds extremely well and controls them.

I don't think she misunderstood Keith at all. I think she wanted to avoid his point and deflect criticism onto him. That is quite manipulative.

I think she's a lazy thinker too and sticks to ploys that work for her (probably from school) but I don't think she is unintelligent though. They are still working for her and that's what she cares about.

I've worked with highly intelligent academics and many of them were not particularly good at quick repartee or point scoring in arguments. I think people are trying to make up their own standards of intelligence - - a degree in economics, a place at Sandhurst and getting to the last few people in the Apprentice suggests a level of objective intelligence higher than say - Katie Price who has made her living by flashing her boobs, selling stories to the press.

But I think it's fair to say that Katie H has taken a career path where the ability to flash one's boobs etc. are more important than intellectual achievements and I sometimes wonder how she feels when she looks at the people she is surrounded with and reflects all the potential she has squandered to become a 'famous for being famous' celeb and not even a particularly successful one. An ex with a degree in biology once pointed out to me that 'survival of the fittest' doesn't mean the fittest in the sense of the best but the fittest for that particular environment. And in the world of Z-list celeb it's the likes of KP and the Kardashians who are best fitted to succeed

Being 'leader' doesn't mean you have high social intelligence, not when we look at the calibre of those 'being led'. She didn't lead Nadia, Patsy, Alicia, Keith and KH, all of whom in my opinion are higher in emotional and social intelligence as well as personal integrity.

And I don't consider the girl who led the 'hard gang' in my school intelligent, for example. She was thick as mince but just scarier than the others and used a punish/reward system that manipulated her acolytes into following. She also used her prettiness, which is a currency in school. KH's currency appears to be her perceived intellect and her antagonism with Perez, a shared enemy. I suspect her media profile and day job could also be a factor. And I think once the other house alpha, Michelle, allied with her, this created a power dynamic that was very influential.

Arguably KH has some traits associated with 'charismatic leadership' but since Hitler is generally used an example of that, it's not saying much (yes, I Godwin'd it!)

I would argue she is intelligent but lacks any level of social empathy or grace. There must be something about her, though, as she has managed to totally manipulate a large proportion of the people in the house. It is so interesting listening to her 'gang' nominate as they give their nominations and then repeat exactly what Hideous Hopkins has fed to them - KP was meant to be entertaining and she's not so she needs to leave, KC is moaning and needs to leave, PH is revolting and needs to leave.

She wants to win this so desperately and is playing an absolute blinder in the house; I do think the public can see through it though. The argument with Keith about Cami Li leaving was so transparent. He was absolute right that it took 5 seconds for them to stop thinking about her and start talking about what was going to happen to them. Hopkins cannot understand that you can nominate someone and still have the common decency to feel sorry that they have gone and the manner in which they have left.

I find her one of the most hateful and despicable people and I felt exactly the same before she entered the House. People know that she has no filter so are afraid to challenge her as she will move a discussion away from the point and towards your 'weakness'. No one called her on the KP 'thick' comment, the ADHD comment, the 'if that was my child I'd kill it...' comment (and I could go on all night!).

I can only hope she is next to go.

Talking over people and spouting the same point over and over again is just about all she can do.

I haven't heard her say anything particularly intellectual, interesting or insightful in the last four weeks.

I have heard her being nasty and spiteful a lot though. A shame she will leave to cheers, though these days boos are more of an honour on BB anyway.
