3 throttling VPN?

It seems that 3 throttle VPN to almost dial-up speed? Anyone else having VPN speed issues?

I've suspected the same for a long time, even though not everyone using VPNs are doing it to try to circumvent any throttling and use it for legitimate business purposes

I do expect some slow down in speeds through a VPN as it is basically an extra connection to go through but it shouldn't be to dial up speeds. I have no experience of 3 but it could be throttling.

VPN doesn't mask how much data you consume. Your data amount remaining still reduces by the same amount VPN or not. VPN is not data thefy

People use VPN for privacy and to avoid their devices being hacked.

A way around it is to install something like 360 Clean Droid from the Play Store where you can boost your VPN app by up to 70% and often it suddenly connects the VPN if it wasn't connecting before or it was often cutting out.

A lot of people have used VPN to get tethering where it isn't allowed. Perhaps people on tether-capped tariffs are continuing to do so?

So, it is possible that Three is trying to do something about it - but that will surely annoy the many people who use VPN for perfectly legitimate reasons, or have to use VPNs for work etc.

Surely three can detect who's tethering even using vpn. Doing the all across the board vpn throttling seems a far too heavy handed approach if it's only to stop tetherers tethering above their 4GB limit.
