I found this week's show to be very forgettable. I didn't think the finalists chose very good songs from The 90's. The intro clips are reeeeeeeeeeeally lacking this year. I thought the clips were terrible transitions into the songs because they just had the finalists blurting something out really quick that had nothing to do with anything.

1. Bo - I liked The Black Crowes song he sang tonight, but I thought the stage performance was a bit over the top. The hat, the walking on the judges desk, everything. It left me a little cold, but the vocals were much better than last week. Oh, and what was with Simon's wedding comment? I don't know what kind of weddings he goes to, but I haven't seen any performers like that at the receptions I've been to. I need to get new friends and family so I can have more fun at their weddings.

2. Jessica - I didn't know the song at all, probably because it was country, but I thought she sang it really well. I still feel nothing from her stage performance.

3. Anwar - His notes were all over the place tonight, so I didn't like his performance. I didn't think it was a good song choice for him, really.

4. Nadia - Her look was back to normal, and her vocals sounded generally OK, but her performance lacked the energy of the original song.

5. Constantine - One more week of showing us that he's not really that much of a rocker. I thought it was classic that his intro clip talked about how the grunge movement of the 90's really inspired him to be in a rock band, and then the camera cuts to him singing this really slow, non-rock song. It was just a really funny transition moment, so I laughed.

6. Nikko - I couldn't really recognize the song. He is so all over the place with his notes that I can't concentrate on the song. Either he's intentionally singing the songs in another key or he's just having pitch problems.

7. Anthony - Thank God he ditched the nerdy glasses because he looked a lot better. His vocals are really karaoke, though. I didn't care for it.

8. Carrie - I didn't know the song because it's another country song. Her vocals were good, but her stage presence is really lacking so much.

9. Scott - His vocals are OK, but I honestly have to say that Camille Velasco sang this song better last season ( ).

10. Vonzell - I can't believe I really enjoyed a Whitney Houston song again. She has such a connection with the camera, which is important when you're on TV (duh), and she sounded great.

Was Paula Abdul drunk this week?

Paula was completely sloshed. No doubt about that one.

Vonzell was my favorite tonight. I voted quite a few times for her. And I want her dress.

I also liked Carrie (that is one of my favorite songs ... I couldn't help but sing along ).

Nadia was pretty good. Votes from me. I do wish she had used the stage more, though.

Everyone else sucked. I want Constantine to leave ...and to brush his hair sometime this century. Bo was wearing the ugliest cowboy hat I've ever seen.

Camille sang a song better than Scott?! I can`t remember a song she ever sang in tune so Scott must have been really bad?

Not a very inspiring choice of songs. It could be worse though.......wait until they do a "featured artist theme week".......my bet is on Johnny Cash or Tammy Wynette.

But, do they? from what I have read there are many, many songs they cannot get clearance from those who own the publishing rights to perform, also prices for clearance of songs differ in price so it could also depend on that. I would find it very interesting to find out from one of the ex contestants how easy it is to get the songs of their choice.

From all acounts it seems it was a very boring lack lustre show last night, downloading it now, so will see for myself later.

Kirsty........with the amount of money that AI generates I wouldn`t have thought it would be a question of money regarding song choices & I wouldn`t have thought they`d have to apply for permission to sing a particular song - just pay the copyright owner. It`s not as if it`s an advert of anything.

Is it me, or are the song choices getting really samey? Four series of AI, two PI and The X Factor, plus Fame Academy mean I'm getting tired of the same oldsongs.

But there's a couple this week I haven't heard of, so that's worth watching for.

Why are Bo and Constantine forgetting their rocker cred? That's what made them refreshing (well Bo, Constantine is not my cup of tea )

I heard an audio of Alistair Griffin (FA) doing that when he was supporting Robin Gibb on his tour of Germany last year. It was absolutely fantastic. So much emotion.

Agree about the song choices, some of them I have never heard of.

I'm getting tired of these shows completely really... my favourite never wins and the likelihood of seeing them doing anything after the show seems to get less and less so I wonder why I waste my time with them !

Constantine did a very seductive renditon of "I can't make you love me". I am liking him more and more. He has a lot of charisma. He will be safe this week. I have no idea who will be going home this week. I don't think Anwar has done well since they have started the final 12. Carrie can sing well, but I am thinking of Nashville Star the whole time. Not my cup of tea. I can not warm up to Jessica, something about her I don't care for even though I know she can sing. I think Vonzell is really improving.

They do have to apply for permission. Several times on the variouls Idols, they've had to have a last minute change as they couldn't get the permission. It might be different in the US, but in the UK, if the song is available, it can be sung without permission only if the lyrics are unchanged and in full. As the Idols sing shortened versions, this requires permission, plus the songs may not all be in the 'public domain' - not all songwriters make their songs available

I thought she was going to be on tonight.


Trust me, they will have to stage an intervention live on air if she keeps this up.


It was her semi-final song that got her into the Top 12, and it was actually her best performance.

I didn't recognise some of these songs. May not be in touch with American music but I think that both helped and hindered some contestants.

All the girls acquitted themselves well this week in different ways and none deserves to be anywhere near the bottom 3 . Nadia back on form, song went nowhere, but she looks and sounds like a practised star.

I thought Constantine again was a real surprise for the good, and as for Vonzel, she is just soaring past most of the others. The best was saved for last.

Bottom trois:

I thought Anwar's song was a complete and utter mess from beginning to end. So he hit some big notes at the end - smelt of desperate measures. It's not that sort of song. The whole of the first half was sharp. Before they went to the final 12 I thought he would walk this series but Anwar shrinks in this big environment and goes off key. Poor Anwar, you're a beautiful person - do something, you're in my bottom 3 this week. You used to be number one.

After stripping last week, Scott, the width of Arizona, came on wearing his voluminous mirror fabric pyjamas this week and would have sent me to sleep if he hadn't warbled so out of tune. He sang a few falsetto notes, blush, embarrassing, don't, really, please. I thought his performance was rank. Put him out of his misery. But not yet ...

Anthony was dreadful. If he was a cruise singer folks would head for the lifeboats. So he's got contact lenses. But it's not called contact lens idol, is it? Had he stayed in Eastern Europe he could have screamed it in from there without technology and they'd still have picked it up in Hollywood.

Anthony should go out because Scott and Anwar usually do a lot better yet he gives exactly the same bad boring performance every week. He constantly invokes the I love America crap that immigrants use to slimeball easily-flattered Americans. See through it. He doesn't mean it. He just wants your money - for what in return?

Decent show last night but wasn't as good as last week. Have to admit Vonzell was best of the night great performance of a Whitney classic (but no way did she sing higher than Whitney like Paula claimed). Carrie was second with a strong vocal performance but not the best of song but she's still by far my favourite.

Personally i think Carrie, Bo and now Vonzell are distancing themselves from the rest but i'm yet to be convinced Vonzell can win it. Anthony to go but Scott shouldn't be far behind him.

Vonzell is certainly the contestant that has improved the most in the competition with Bo and Carrie remaining the most constant.The rest seem to flounder from week to week.
It's suprising how some of the early favourites are struggling now.Even Nadia's performance,though better than last week,wasn't up to her earlier standards.
I still want Bo to win but it would be nice if Vonzell gets a chance at the final.
Scott to go after that cringe worthy performance...

Haven't seen the show yet but this time last year I already knew who I thought were the best singers , this year to be honest not too excited about any of them

I have to record the show tonight and watch it tomorrow, so I went online to find out who left tonight. It was Nadia, Jessica and Anwar in the bottom three. Nadia was sent back to the couches, leaving Jessica and Anwar in the bottom two. Jessica was sent home. She has a good voice, but I never connected with her. I'm not really all that surprised she went home, especially since she was in the bottom three the first week. We only have three girls left with six guys. It's now the opposite of last year when there were three guys and six girls left. Funny.

Shock result. To me at least. Half the girls gone by end of week 3 and one of those remaining - Nadia - has been in the bottom 3 twice already.

Randy said (rightly) that none of these three should be in the bottom 3. Paula said her usual load of lovli-isms and Simon said he thought Scott should have been in the bottom 3 instead of Nadia.

Jessica was not my favourite but it beggars belief she went home and several others stayed. I really thought Anwar was going at one point. I put him in my bottom 3 for this week but he would not be there if one averaged out how well he did overall.

Totally surprised to read Jessica went Why didn't Anthony go, it's his time to leave the competition now surely Poor Jessica

Regardless of the other contestants, Jessica has been poor all the way through for me. Her demise is of no great loss as far as I, or the competition is concerned.

So Jessica has gone. She could sing but she didn`t have the X-Factor that makes people "connect" to her.

Anwar has to be the biggest disappointment to me in the competition. I expected him to really shine but all he`s done is prove that he should stick to being a music teacher. At the start of the competition I had him in my top three along with Bo & Nadia but he just seems to get worse each week.
