When I first saw Perez on CBB I thought he was loud and overbearing, and I couldn't understand why he acted the way he did. Admittedly, I mistook my own lack of understanding as a lack of rationality on his part, but the more I watched the more I could see the method to his madness. He's playing the part of Big Brother, and he's actually better at it than Channel 5/Endemol.

Series after series we've seen how Big Brother operates; Housemates are pushed to breaking point, set against one another, we get to see who is found wanting, they lose favour with the public, etc. If there's some underlying issue between two HMs or somebody shows (arguably) negative personality traits, BB contrives situations that will bring things to a head.

What Perez has done since his arrival is be the first to notice any underlying problems in his fellow HMs and root them out. In the beginning, at least, he manipulated certain situations (à la BB) to get people to show their true colours, but more than that he allows himself the freedom to say almost anything he wishes, which is something BB can't do. Better still, he's highly discriminating when it comes to who he locks horns with and only seems to target people based on their bad behaviour. The likes of Cheggers have nothing to fear from him, the rest quiver at the thought of him highlighting their indiscretions.

I love it!

I can't stand him and he's obviously got ...problems but he did, work out that if he could keep up a sufficient level of noise, almost all the time, no one else would get heard much, they couldn't escape it and they'd get stressed and perhaps intimidated and they'd crack up.
So yes - he's done what Big Brother wouldn't have been allowed, to do. The others in the House could have put a stop to Perez's game very quickly by all, saying that they'd leave immediately if he didn't shut up. They didn't. So they must have really wanted the money.

Apparently he has read BB's past scripts...so then must have a good handle on the psychology involved.

Yes he strikes me as often knowing how to play it, i.e. evoke reactions. However, perhaps he did not foresee the consequences of becoming so hated for the provocation. That is a huge oversight and has caused him enough suffering to want to be evicted asap.

That's not just what Joe thinks either

Perez is the best BB celebrity ever by a country mile

He's been running the show from the start ... and he hasn't flagged right to the end

Talk about earning your pay cheque !

I'd be inclined to agree. He may well be the best CBB housemate ever.

I can't think of a better one. I wouldn't mind seeing him win either, considering the treatment he's had from the other HMs. I think the best case scenario though would be him and Keith as the final 2 and Keith winning. Perez would love that, I reckon.

Yes, I also think he is the best CBB housemate ever. He has definitely earned his pay check and imo he has earned the win.

Good post OP, reminds me of my favourite post of this series ...

The only way this series can truly end on a Pereztastic high is if he burns the house down on final night, and sits atop the smouldering ashes playing a violin to the chav crowd dressed as Nero. Please let this happen.

I'm curious about his Keith tactic. The only achiles heel I can see with Keith is his duplicity - a few times he has changed his story about what he actually said when called up on something. Hence the housemates frustration about him owning things. I'm certain his song & dance about Cami last night was to redress the fact he said "well done to the viewers" just after Cami left (shown in the Monday show, but not last night). Or if Perez has done his homework beforehand he may bring up the spat with Ed Byrne.
I think it will all depend on what progress Perez makes unravelling the others. He may just be happy to be 2nd to Keith content that he thinks he's been the king maker.

I think he thought the crowds outside would have given him more support than they have.

I completely agree. Perez has been good value from start to finish. The show would have been like the McGiff/Crosby year without him. Bland. I don't see how more people don't get it. He's taken what Speidi and Busey did and multiplied it by a million. Annoying, yes. But what fun!

He's been the perfect housemate, it'll take some doing to top his performance in subsequent years.

I agree. His 'unveiling' of Alex was brilliant.
