I am looking to upgrade my 9150T, ideally with something similar re the functions, plus HD. But looking at various newer models they seemed to have taken a step backwards re functions, i.e. looking at differences below comparing HDR Fox T2, (which I believe is now redundant), and HDR 2000T, the newer model has less functions

I would like to have the following at least: - PIP, Standby UHF pass through, Bookmarks in recordings, Remote TV/Radio select, Remote source select, Remote 'Wide' option, Remote Slow play feature, Power On/Off switch, ability to transfer to a disc/usb stick.

Not sure what "Common Interface slot" is but maybe needed?

I don't know why the newer one)s) don't have "Bookmarks in recordings", but I would assume that is a basic requirement, (unless I am mistaking it with something else?).


Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated.

Also what does "MTFS write to USB" mean?

The HDR-2000T has standby UHF pass through with the latest software update (available directly by Internet connection or indirectly by USB stick). The cheaper HDR-1800T (with a smaller HDD and a few other limitations) has always had it, but requires a software update for something else: I forget what.

NTFS write to USB means the USB device you write to can be formatted NTFS rather than the more usual FAT32. Possible with the HDR-2000T but not the HDR-FOX T2. Not really an important issue.

The common Interface slot enables pay TV, currently just BT Sport 1.

If HumaxDirect was still operating I would recommend trying to get one of the few remaining 'grade A' FOXes - which is what I have.

Otherwise you will just have to get an HDR-2000T and put up with the limitations if you want to stick with Humax.

Thanks for the reply, some of the limitations are in, IMO, required, like Bookmarks,or have I got that wrong? I am assuming this means you cannot bookmark a point you may want to return to later?

Is there anything out there that has these facilities? Including PIP which is a very useful function and one I use a lot.

These are basic requirements for PRV's.

Re the M instead of an N this was a glitch in the copy paste jobby, I thought I had got them all but missed a couple.

That's right, though it does remember where you are in each programme for the next time you select it. (Actually the FOX doesn't have bookmarks for radio programmes for some reason.)


The only time you need this is when the box crashes, hangs or otherwise has a major malfunction. With the 2000T I imagine you would just yank the DC cable out of the back of the box.


I don't know. I've never used PIP.


You press List and navigate across the options. Or, as I do, create a Favourites list which included both TV and Radio.


This is easy with both the FOX and the 2000T - for SD TV and radio at least - rather difficult for HD programmes.


I've only ever used Humax PVRs. I still use my 9200T and bought an HDR-FOX T2 last year.

The 1800/2000T have freeze frame but not slomo I believe. The FOX is hard to find these days, but you might find one.

Yes that is strange. I think stocks are low because the nearest one to me is in Dublin, and I live in the East Midlands.
