Michelle drones on about her LGBT advocacy role, so why did she jump on the bandwagon of horror-struck housemates when Perez made the innocuous remark that Cami-Lee would get more attention by having a flirtation/fauxmance with Chloe? The lot of them acted as if he'd suggested something vile and disgusting. Michelle could have used that whole incident as an opportunity to point out that in an equal world, it shouldn't have made any difference whether he was suggesting a showmance with a male or female housemate. It would probably have made for a very interesting discussion.

As far as I can remember, she acted as if she found the idea more disgusting than anyone else. She's just a self-interested hypocrite.

Maybe she did make that point, we never see a full discussion only edited portions.

And maybe Cami would have been equally annoyed had he suggested a showmance with a male.

Michelle was disgusted with the idea because what Perez suggested makes a mockery out of everything LGBT campaigners have been fighting for.

I'm sure she would've been just as disgusted if Perez suggested Kav had a fake romance with Cami just because the public loves a good showmance

Huh?? It makes a mockery of everything they've been fighting for?? Really? Explain please.

I'm sure that Cami wouldn't have batted an eyelid if Perez had suggested the same thing between her and Calum, and neither would Michelle.

I am not 100% but I would imagine it is something to do with the fact that for a very long time the Lesbian image has been a sexual fantasy of men. In actual fact most lesbians are not interested in men....hence their sexual preferance that they have fought to be able to make. This has been an ideal image created by heterosexuals for their entertainment, in itself offensive to lesbians.

So to suggest two women play act a lesbian scene is offensive. ...wouls anyone have been offended if it had been suggested that Callum and Jeremy (if he was there) had had sex to gain viewers

I think that issue is not so much a GLBT issue as a broader feminist issue about objectifying women.
However, in this case, we're talking about a throw-away comment in BB! And I don't think Cami-Lee was reacting like that as a result of her GLBT community ideologies.

What is the point you're making with your Calum/Jeremy question? I personally would not have been any more offended by that than the Chloe/Cami-Lee issue. As far as I was concerned, Perez was just making light-hearted conversation, and probably expected laughter and a witty response, which is what he'd have got from me.
