Why wouldn't they try to persuade him to stay? They do the same with all HMs who say they want to leave.
So the producers told him the ratings are up and its the Perez show, he claims. So he stayed because his ego was boosted, and he thought he could win.

It really was The Perez Show!!!He stayed because he had put up with so much sh*t that he had the "no point in quitting now" and instead tried to get voted out (not saved). He's not a quitter even if he wanted to quit…plus the extras given to him by production (who knows what all was promised). I also wouldn't be surprised if he was paid a lot so why should he not stay and collect his money after the torment he received from the bullies. At least he got a couple days break from them.
Add up all the pros of staying and it outweighed the pros of leaving. Obviously he is intelligent and I'm sure he did that.
I don't agree with BB doing that kind of manipulation but if they do then I can't blame the HM.
