Time for a ''NO outside contact'' Big Brother?

i know, what a bizarre concept, how channel 4 managed it i will never know!

what are the thoughts though? is it really so impossible to try and create a series where there is ZERO interference from the outside world?
does big brother really need to reveal stats about the housemates for tasks?

does the house REALLY need to hear the crowd every eviction show which is nothing but detrimental to the shows running?
we saw what it did to Perez. they hear chants of ''get perez out'' and suddenly hes being isolated.

infact there are countless examples of this sort of things happening through the history of the show.
it all started with ''get grace out'' during BB7, then suddenly she was up for eviction having not really had many nominations previous.

atleast channel 4 then had the sense to start announcing evictees from inside the studio, so why cant Emma do this? its only a few steps away from the stairs where she normally announces the evictee!
stop giving the crowd so much power!

Channel 5 took the thing that Channel 4 actually used to make the show unique...and threw them out of the window.

They even stage the contraversy so people will have arguments...Its not "Reality TV" anymore

Quite simple. They didn't. In series one HM's were allowed to wave and shout to their families during evictions. C4 also started the chanting crowd being played into the house. They also had people being fake evicted, getting interviewed by Davina and then going back in. They had HM's being re-admitted after they had been evicted and they had people on day trips round London.

The idea that C4 had some sort of perfect BB is a myth.

The silly kids on Red bull actually ruined the show by giving false information, with their jeers, to the Ar**wipe gang with which to harass the innocent minded Perez.

It had a serious visible effect on him and was unfair.

I agree. Would have been better without the outside school kids.

Channel 5 published a survey for fans to fill in after last year's show, but as far as I can see, they didn't implement any changes whatsoever.

There is still far too much outside interference, too much producer meddling and nomination twists. Channel 5 are trying to appeal to a very different audience than Channel 4 were and it's gone too far imo.

That survey confuses me to this day. What was the point of it if they aren't going to make any changes ?

The show has been butchered by Channel 5. Pretty much everything that made it great on Channel 4 has been thrown out of the window by Channel 5.

I would love for it to go back to the housemates not being able to hear the crowd outside.

The crowds' cheers and boos are a huge influence on how the housemates behave and changes the game considerably.

A full return to no outside interference and a full live feed is what's required.
It won't happen of course ,those days are long gone

I've not watched either of the last two CBB's
It amuses me to see how much resentment, anger, frustration and devotion people here on DS pour into this show when every aspect of it is totally out of their control.
You may say "ahh but we get to vote" .. agreed .. but only on a scenario chosen by producers to give their desired result.

you are right ofcourse, however they did make steps to stop outside contact, like i said they did start davina talking to the house away from the crowd.
as far as i am aware they did pretty well during BB9 and BB10 with limited outside contact. i know the last series of BB on channel 4 the rulebook did seem to be thrown out the window though.
channel 5 they may aswell let them go home every night to return in the morning,

yep, i remember the survey, i remember from this forum what alot of people said on it, and i remember thinking ''C5 are not going to pay a blind bit of notice to what anyone says'', and they havent
what was the point indeed?

It's far too manipulated by the producers now. I haven't enjoyed the show since last January which says it all; it was one of the least interfered with series of the C5 era. They put the handcuffs on, shoved them in, and just went with it (for the most part).

Everyone uses the phrase 'back to basics.' I'm not sure that's entirely possible; however, C5 should allow one series to run through with as little interference from the producers as possible; at least do one series and see how it goes. The problem is that they're so scared of ratings sliding that they feel the need to constantly interfere with and manipulate the show. How about, for one series, we have these basic rules:
1) No contact with the outside world. Eviction announcements are to be held within a studio and the freezing of the vote lines and the whole, 'the first person safe in this vote is,' will be scrapped. (This whole thing is a huge gripe for me). Instead the housemates will simply be told who has been evicted.
2) Regular nominations occur each Monday. Nominations are kept secret, housemates are forbidden from discussing them, and producers cannot throw in any 'twists' to alter the nominations to save (or push out) any individual housemates.
3) No meddling from the producers; producers will not talk to the housemates, housemates will be addressed in the DR only by 'Big Brother' and no discussions will occur between housemates and anyone who is not a housemate in regards to anything within or outside of the house (ie, BB cannot tell housemates how to behave in certain situations).
4) No one is to enter the house apart from the housemates. No producers directing tasks, etc. Tasks etc will once again be instructed via sheets of paper which housemates will have to collect from the DR as was the case in the early years on C4. BB will do as little as possible to instruct, instead acting more as a referee.

.”

it is so annoying when they do this ! you would have thought that without live feed , they would just show as much highlights as possible! but no, instead of giving us the highlights (which im sure is what 99% of the audience want!) they freeze the lines, and make emma 'talk to the house' umpteen times to announce whos safe,( usually 'whos got the most votes' why would you even reveal that ?! ) and waste god knows how long reading out the numbers again, returning to the house again, just reveal whos been evicted ffs !
its even more dragged out than the x factor.

Plus NO friends and family noms, NO immunity and most definitely NO free passes to the final

I agree. I don't mind if they use one of these things, once in a series. When they start becoming the weekly norm (as they have) then you have serious problems.

Time for no outside contact, and all the other things that have been taken away from the original concept of BB.
It was just about right when it started and has been reduced by fiddling around to a complete mess now.
