I had to have my dog put to sleep this afternoon...he was 18 years old.
After so many episodes of illness he had lost his will and his mind...he was physically alright, but he was confused and totally lost....his quality of life had dropped so much I couldn't bear to see him like that.

Rest in Peace, Jasper.....

Really sorry to hear that Waj_100, it is always sad when a pet especially a dog passes away as it is like losing a member of the family. Condolences to you all.

It's an unfortunate part of life that we die, but what matters is that we lived.

He looks like he had a wonderful life, and you should be proud and happy that you provided him with that wonderful life.

Thank you, yes he had a good life, but it really hurts that I was the one to end it, I couldn't stand to see him as he was.

So sorry for your loss, but you obviously gave him a good life for him to reach that age, and out of love let him go when he needed you to do that for him. He was a lucky pooch.

So sorry, what a beautiful dog. It's the hardest thing we have to do but the biggest act of love at the same time. I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you and most importantly left you knowing how much he was loved and cared for x

Aww he looks like a wee old gentleman.

My oldest dog's almost 17 now and I'm dreading the day. I hope it's not long before you canremember him with smiles rather than tears. x
