I was so shocked (but over the moon) to see Perez go last night. I was so sure he would make it into the final.

Over the years, I've always found this forum to be fairly good at it's predictions, but this year it's been way way off. Maybe it's been the change in membership or just a minority of posters posting a lot so it skews to entire perception of the forum in regards to Perez being an actual contender when he never was?

Perez had many fans on here, and in the YT comments section, but everyone i spoke to in real life HATED him, with many seeming to favour Keith, Michelle and Cal(at least, in my experience) so perhaps it was a case of a small, but intense online fanbase being very...passionate..in their support for him(voting in various polls, making lots of pro/anti threads etc)? Michelle and Cal also seem pretty unpopular on here, but very much liked on other forms of social media. Perhaps it's due to the high percentage of Perez fans?

Either way, i'm glad to see that Karma caught up with him eventually. It will be interesting to see what happens with Hopkins now.

This forum is often wrong.

Ashleigh, Ashleyne, Deana, Luisa and The Shannon Twins were all favourites to win on here.

I don't know how right or wrong it's been in the past, I've not been on this forum for years and then only occasionally would I lurk

This is the same forum that had Traci Bingham as their favourite to win with 30% so it's always been wrong.

Irishcyke....you fail to distinguish between different facets of Perez that are crucial, i.e. it is possible to dislike him (I do) but find him entertaining! (I do!)

Emma announced that he was one of the best ever HMs!

I thought most of us realised what was the general consensus on here could not be taken for gospel.

I always take the sway on here with a pinch of salt as any reality TV forum has only a reasonably small number of posters. Of all the celebrity big brother viewers in the UK there will only be a small number who voice their opinions on here.

I have to question the humor of someone who finds a flabby 40 year old man prancing around in his underwear looking for attention and sticking things up his nose as entertaining! Personally, i found him embarrassing and likely mentally ill.

Either way, it's not really relevant to this thread. I do understand the concept of finding someone a good housemate despite disliking them as a person.

For instance, i think Hopkins is a pretty garbage person, but i have found her very entertaining as a housemate, and probably most deserving of the win. Ultimately conflicted.

But that's just Emma's opinion, that doesn't mean it is the right one.

The forum can get it right but it can also get it majorly wrong. I don't think it's got better or worse, it's fairly up-and-down.

Can't really complain though because the bookies, other polls and the eviction crowd can make huge blunders aswell.
I think the possible reason why things seem more unpredictable now is because it's not so much a popularity contest anymore, it's a game of getting votes at the right time.

LOL.......Funny......... and that comment was a lot more entertaining than Hopkins could ever hope to be !

I agree Irishcyke with your original thread post.

But it's not just this forum.

On BOTs they kept going on about his massive Twitter following/tweets concerning him - more than all the others put together.

But both failed to distinguish "volume" and "popularity"

Yes. and the muppet who collated those figures described Hopkins as "the nation's sweetheart"............America gets Aniston and we get the bride of Frankenstein........No wonder the country's depressed !

The bookies and polls got it wrong.
It was possibly because of those that enough people didn't bother voting to save Perez because they thought he was already safe.
Maybe?

Well, sometimes the forum appears to be in step with "public opinion" and sometimes it isn't.
But it really doesn't matter. Members here include a lot of diehard fans, but still a very small percentage of actual viewers and potential voters.
Also, these days a lot of young people are encouraged to vote but are unlikely to be DS members because that can involve a lot of typing when they have better things to do.
Then, on Twitter you have the PR people who actually manage the Twitter accounts of people like One Direction saying "Please vote for HM XYZ" of "HM ABC is a prat" to their little girlie fans. That's all deals behind the scenes (although it can help to get the required result).
A knock on effect of this is that people who want to feel included decide they had better support "the right HM" as well.
The forum just is what it is. I suspect that most of us think "the forum" has got it right when we agree with lots of posters, and the reverse when we want... um...Kavana or whatever.

I didn't like Perez but I was disappointed he was booted out before Hopkins. I'd rather see his teeth taking up the screen than her face.

Its often wrong with who they want to win, but usually the person this forum backs at least makes top three.

The only time i remember this forum being right was when a lot of people on here liked Aaron but he wasnt really liked anywhere else,

Good point, and occasionally it swims ahead of the current.
The sizeable Gary Busey fan club here (I was one) was up and running long before the general public and betting caught on and joined in.

I suppose we are somewhat limited to our social circles, (although I must say I feel have friends right across the spectrum) But I have to say in the real world everyone I know appears to agree with me that Perez is a loon, Nadia is a sell out and Katie Hopkins is a breath of fresh air!
... Then I come on here and I'm surrounded by Katie H hate and Perez love! If I didn't know better I'd think that those supporting Perez were trolling, but I really don't think thats the case.

In my opinion, it's not the forum that's wrong, it's the voting public.

Lots of them don't much like the Americans and aren't willing to give them much of a chance, and a lot of the UK housemates have big existing fanbases before they even go in. That gives them a big advantage IMO.

In here we spend a lot of time chewing the fat and I don't think we're particularly swayed by a housemate's nationality, on the whole we evaluate them on their merits in the house and give them the benefit of the doubt until they give us reason to like or dislike them.

lol, it def is for a few of them. I caught one or two of the die hard Perez fans blatantly attempting to rile people up.

DS is never on the money. Back on X Factor it was a Fleur fest with nobody giving much love to Ben.
