How do I wirelessly connect Macbook to tv
Hi there,
I've heard that if I buy a certain gadget (I'm not sure what this gadget is) I can wirelessly connect my Macbook to the TV and then I could watch netflix that is loaded on my computer. Has anyone done this and if so how easy is it to do (bear in mind I'm not technical). Could you give me instructions and help with what gadget it is I should purchase? Any help appreciated. Thanks. |

Apple TV. Link £79 from the Apple store. £69 from Argos.
Apple TV (ATV) is a media player. It does a similar thing to your laptop in that it lets you watch Netflix. The difference is that Apple TV has a HDMI connection for your TV, and it comes with a simple to use remote control. It will also consume less power than running your MacBook and some sort of wireless interface unit. Buy and install an Apple TV. Connect it to your wireless home network. Click on the Netflix logo and then log in to your Netflix account. If there's something other than Netflix (and the other apps from ATV) that you want to use then there's a screen mirroring facility called AirPlay. This lets you 'cast' what ever is on the MacBook screen to your ATV and hence to the TV which it is connected. I have customers who watch their Sky Go using this facility. |

"Buy at a shop, they'll tell you how to set it up"..... err... no. This is the modern era of tech. They just want your money in exchange for a box. Besides, most of the set-up is unpacking the box, plugging in power and a HDMI lead, then putting in your wireless network password.
Once you get the thing plugged in and switched on, and your TV input set to that HDMI socket where you just put the cable, then the rest will be guided through by a set-up wizard. All you have to do is provide the correct info when prompted. |
