What has she actually done for her gays whilst in the house?
She keeps going on about being a voice - but is the voice saying anything?
Maybe. BB rarely actually broadcasts anyone's pet soapbox material. She should have known that, mind

I don't care if someone says my gays.
I like the simplicity of this post. I don't care either Mavis.

i feel kinda offended when Michelle says My Gays... like a property she owns.. as pets or species..

Its not even acceptable to say my blacks or my whites...

No, it's not acceptable to say it.

But she can't even see that - as she sees gays as her meal ticket, they're a block vote for her, not individuals. She knows they are the only reason she's in the final. So as the saying goes she'll keep milking that cow.

I think Michelle is trapped in some kind of crusading timewarp that was more suited to 30 years ago.......it all feels a bit unnecessary and OTT.

ps: She is coming across as increasingly desperate to win the show......not cool.

........She won't.

It's almost the literal definition of 'patronising'. She has set herself up as the patron of her gays.

Martin Luther Queen.

Malcolm Transex.

Nelson Man-on-mandela.

Anyway, here's a take on it by this Andy Cohen fella and Lance Bass from NSync:

As a gay man myself I can't stand this woman. I have no problem with people supporting gay people, however this woman talks about us as if we're a different species. She says she's a "voice for the gays", but I can't understand what it is she has done. She bangs on and on and on about it as if she wants praise and applause because she's not homophobic and likes gay people...as if she's the only person in the world like this. Her so-called "support" is more offensive than supportive, and her big speech the other night where she down-right insisted "I AM PART OF THE COMMUNITY" was a bit creepy. I never warmed to her early on, but when she used Perez's sexuality as an insult, that's when I really went off her. The woman is barking mad and not so much a supporter of the LGBT community...more like obsessed.
I completely agree.

As a queer female I especially found her horrified and disgusted reaction to Perez trying to get Chloe and Cami-li to display a bit of faux-lesbianism as utterly homophobic.

The sincerity of her 'cause' as voice of 'the gays and misfits' should be judged by her ACTIONS and her DEEDS, not her endless bleating or t-shirt circa 1987.

Whilst in the house she bullied and victimised both Perez and Alicia and had the audacity to say that Perez has set back the 'gay cause' by 20 years.....

Lest we forget she is a late middle-aged straight female living the heterosexual stereotype, married with 2 kids with all the cultural privileges that conveys....WHO does she think she is speaking for LGBT?!?!?!?

You know Ozzy, that's how I find it, beyond patronising it's a bit creepy and obsessed.

I think Michelle's views and voice is more apt in the good ol USA where it is only acceptable in certain areas to be gay. Gay people in San Francisco and Los Angeles etc., are fine however the same does not apply to the south or the Bible Belt therefore there is still a lot to fight for there. The same does not apply here which is probably why it grates so much with so many here.

it seems stranger to us in western europe. but in america homophobia is rife,
this is where her attitude and stance comes from. any support is good support over there where there was a point not so long ago there were reports of gay teens killing themselves almost every week !

This is what makes me despise her the most. She earns money out of her patronising behaviour and out of acting like she's fighting for civil liberties and is a big hearted liberal.

If she wins then she'll be able to keep her meal ticket going

I think this is exactly it. The UK, thank goodness, isn't in the dark ages when it comes to gay equality, whereas parts of America are still so backward that people like Michelle are sadly needed to help break down the barriers.

Totally agree. Don't see the point of this stupid thread as 'blacks' and 'whites' could be gay.

Exactly I don't think she realises she is preaching to the choir here so it does take on a patronising tone but I do think it is coming from a good place.

You might be surprised at how "backward" some communities in the UK are. If not so much with gays per se, definitely with trans. I can't tell you how many arguments I have had with people I work with (and I work in public service) over their attitude and explicit disgust over things trans. which discriminates against others in this workplace.

Totally agree. Virginia was recently going to pass a law to ban gays of human rights . thankfully a signed petition managed to stop this disgusting law.

^ Yes, that's how she comes across.

I think there's a decent enough woman in there somewhere, and a sincere one, but just not a very aware one.

Really don't think its been her meal ticket or reason she is in the final. If anything I think she has lost the gay vote in the UK. I know as a gay man I wouldn't vote for her and reading most posts on here the majority of gay people do not support her.
Unfortunately I think her intention is genuine and good on her for all the good work she does on America but it's a bit of the lost in translation scenario. The way she talks about LGBT comes across as patronising and self indulgent, and it's due to the use of how she words things. I also think that America and the UK are very different especially on tv and media with regards to LGBT issues. America has a lot more racism, homophobic, sexist etc issues than the UK and laws within states vary and so does public acceptance far more than the UK. It's clear that she really has no understanding of the UK and thought that we needed a new spokesperson for LGBT in the UK when really we don't. IMO the LGBT community is well integrated in most parts of the UK, of course there is always going to be exceptions to that but it's not as big an issue as in America.
It's a shame as when she entered the house I really thought she would have bern a great character and interesting but she allowed herself to become a puppet for Katie H. Her references to LGBT were pointless as no one in the house had an issue around it. She should have focussed on just being herself rather than trying to be a spokesperson or voice for anything else. As her voice wasn't needed and instead she became a back seat passenger allowing Perez and Katie to grab all the limelight.

Well we can only hope that Michelle being on CBB has made them realise the error of their ways.

I'm not saying that lol.
I for sure don't understand what she thinks she is doing there, but in the end perhaps that doesn't matter.

She won't change any bigots thinking, but if she really manages to make someone out there feel supported and valued - then maybe that's all that matters.

The rate of suicude and self-harming is also higher among gay teenagers than straight ones in the UK...

That's why working at tolerance and anti-bullying campaigns in schools is so important. Of course Michelke can't join that crusade because she likes to isolate and target people.
