Many here have remarked on the intensity of hatred towards certain HMs in this series. In fact it has been so extreme as to cause threads to be closed, e.g. towards Nadia. Indeed some FMs have been rendered 'inactive' members (but I guess that may have more to do with personal attack on other FMs).

It is one thing to find fault with a HM, however, if the criticism is toxic/venomous then it becomes a case of pot kettle black, i.e. makes the attacker no better than their target. The attempt to claim the high moral ground then becomes redundant.

Of course I realise that this would not matter to the person if they are a troll and some have noticed this troll element here. I guess for those FMs who do not regard themselves as trolls though, but make highly nasty posts, could benefit from taking stock of how they interact here. There is a fine line between intensive, provocative posts and crossing over to troll like behaviour.

I had to report a FM for starting a thread on myself - not a celeb in the house - and misrepresenting me. I was pleasantly surprised by the support I quickly got, on his newly started thread, by other FMs here - so it badly backfired and the thread was quickly closed anyway. Also I do not have a victim's mentality so he targeted the wrong person! Clicking on his fb link revealed a very troll-like status.

I find it quite pathetic that people can get that wound up about a housemate. Surely, be annoyed, but don't let the hate consume you. What Perez did is hardly akin to Gary Glitter or Sutcliffe.

I never understand the hatred of anyone in BB they put themselves on the line to hopefully entertain us, are not murderers or child rapists so apart from a slight dislike of a few I can never find it in myself to hate them. When they leave I get over the dislike usually, only occasionally I find myself still disliking them Helen and Carole who were so outstandingly awful I just cannot find it in my heart to like them.

Sadly, Big Brother brings out the worst in people (and sometimes the best too). We see that both in the house most years, with a 'nice' group and the 'nasty' group.

That is often reflected on here too, just as in real life...people are people, or if you prefer people are animals with the power of reason. BB brings out the animal in housemates and to a lesser extent us on the outside.

I guess such hatred may just be an outlet to the person's stressful life...not sure. It does seem excessive.

If their post is to sway an FM over to their point, it is more likely to succeed if their opinion is well argued/supported rather than lazy name calling without any back up.

Yes of course. In starting this thread I am trying to show that such attackers are no better than those they attack if their method/attitude is so vile.

I tend to find if some one is excessively hated I start looking more closely at their behaviour and like this year with Perez I end up supporting them as I can rarely see the reason for the hatred.

Nice!

Nadia has said that she won't see someone isolated, i.e. even if she did not like Perez (which she clearly does). She points out that Hopkins makes people feel victimised....we have clearly seen her do this in the house, e.g. declaring that she will persecute Perez until he leaves.

I'm not sure that starting a thread attacking FMs is a good idea. The housemates are fair game, FMs aren't.

Read the OP again...I am not attacking them but clarifying what such intense reactions denote. It is a plea for awareness and appraisal by those that post in a certain highly provocative way.

I pity DS staff who must have their work cut out for them with some responses here to this CBB series. Indeed, whole threads have been pulled i.e. not even closed!

You still trying to discuss FMs.

Is that not allowed? It is a plea for awareness nothing more. There are threads about FMs attitude towards HMs...this is in the same vein but more generalised.

What about the attitude of those who love HMs? That never seems to attract much condemnation.

No doubt some people get carried away and rather hysterical both ways but the show is geared towards encouraging OTT reactions from the viewers. In fact BB relies on it because underneath the hysteria is a whole lot of inanity.

Why would love be a problem? Expressing love does no harm does it? It's when love for a HM to the detriment of another i.e. by choosing to offset it/point the finger, that it becomes a source of conflict.

The nastier the house, the nastier the forum.

I must say though that in my opinion most of the really close to the bone comments have been made by the Perez supporters, not excusing other fans, but sometimes I can't believe how they whitewashed his behaviour and deflected blame onto other housemates.

Well that is not my experience. As mentioned the intensity of the bitching towards Nadia has been such that a thread attacking her had to be closed. I have not seen any thread attacking Hopkins closed...have you?

The thing about Perez that some FMs don't get is that it is possible to dislike who he is but like his ability to entertain. I am one of those.

I must say I haven't seen too much white washing just people bemused and amazed others are choosing not to see the bullying and trying to explain he hasn't killed any children and isn't only one behaving badly. Personally I never thought he was an innocent he is clearly a very eccentric man, I am just shocked people cannot accept someone who is different I thought we were at a point especially BB fans of accepting people are different and that is fine.

Unless you ask Miss intelligent herself Luisa Zissman of course.

I do have to say though that this year is the closest feeling that I have come to hate for a housemate. I've always found it a bit mad when people say I hate so and so (who isn't actually a paedo, rapist or murderer) when they've never met someone but I can honestly say that Hopkins makes my stomach churn, she's a repulsive woman and I never want the experience of meeting her to discover if I could hate her.

Sorry Amy & Molly, I won't be responding to your reples as I put you on my ignore list ages ago.

Bet they were Brilliant and not at all biased.

Could someone tell me how to put someone on ignore? I don't know how to, and am thinking the option would do wonders for my blood pressure.

FMs should be accountable IMO if they make an accusation about a HM which is vile and abusive with no substance why shouldn't they be accountable

What an odd post! Since I started this thread how did it get clicked on in the first place if I am on ignore? There is obviously a disadvantage if the OP is not read...like driving blind.

We all have opinions/bias. This thread addresses when that attitude becomes so hateful as to be vitriolic and so more revealing and questionable about the poster. Perhaps I have addressed your post on this in the past and it touched a nerve? (Just an observation for others to read)

Indeed I find most people seem to find me reasonable and I don't think I ever attack anyone so being put on ignore makes me wonder whether the poster is ever so slightly sensitive, nothing wrong with that but I learned ages ago you cannot be too sensitive on DS or many other forums really. It would consume you if you were.
