The tasks have all but disappeared this time.
The shopping task has diminished to nothing more than fifteen minutes of footage for the nightly show.
Not only that, but almost impossible to fail, rendering it pointless.
No more difficult than reciting the alphabet (except for Alicia)

Perhaps Perez's claim that it was written in his contract that he would not go without food was true.

Totally agree with the above posts.

There was a time when tasks actually used to be funny weren't there?

all but disappeared this year I'm afraid, along with virtually any fun.

The producers in their infinite wisdom obviously decided that this year would be all about the 'DRAMZ' as those naff celebrity sites like OMG on Yahoo constantly quote.

I liked the long tasks - those that lasted 2 days and included overnight participation. The tasks have really been dumbed down this year.

There was a real dearth of tasks this series wasn't there, I also thought it had to do with Perez' remark regarding it being written into his contract that he'd not be going without food.

A shame, tasks are what bring them all together no matter what, working for their food has always been important and the lack of tasks also gave them more time to get on each others' nerves, meaning more fights.

Why should they graft for their food? Because that's how it was in the past? Do you not like change?

maybe they had them planned but with all the rowing going on, perhaps they decided to focus on those and save the tasks for another series.

Saves them having to think up new ones for next time

Unfortunately, those days are long gone, seems they can't be bothered with anything but stirring and causing conflict.

I prefer the HM's doing tasks.
It adds another dimension to the show and allows us to observe how they interact and work together to achieve one goal, seeing HM's who might avoid each other having to communicate and spend time together can be fascinating.
It often adds laughter too......the laughter which has been far to rare this series.

The fairy tale theme should have allowed for some very creative/fun tasks. It amounted to some wall stencils, a couple of them wearing crowns.. and a mirror.

So much wasted potential.

I know people slag BB4 off a fair amount for boring housemates...but task wise that was probably the best produced series they have ever done. They went all out on themes and rewards.

I think there's still plenty of fun and laughter..but it's edited out for the most part.BB pushes to create conflict these days....even in this series (when they had plenty enough already).

Wasn't it BB4 who had the reward room?

Some of the old tasks have been so funny who can ever forget BB10 with Sree having to provide ice-cream orders through the night...."I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream"

I think it was BB2 were they had the simple task of having to keep a fire alight for 24hours and it turned out not to be so easy.

the tasks are only a tool to keep the slush puppie ice turning over - to ensure than no one can sit on a fence and to keep the game running...

with just 45 minutes of tv footage to get each day, and with it being more dedicated to the relationships and strife between people and cliques there has not been the time..

civilian BB has seen tasks become paid product placements ( disco parties where ministry of sound had a new cd, bbq sauces etc )

luckily, those who want to see tasks where people do silly things... cbbc is chocka

All the good stuff has disappeared over the years, main tasks, tasks to get treats, doing the shopping list.
In fact i wouldn't be surprised if the shopping list is just for the viewers and they get whatever food and luxuries they want.

I don't trust anything in the Channel 5 Big Brother lol, just too much bullshit.

perhaps they should enlist the help of the I'm A Celebrity 'bushtucker trial' team - that would really inject a bit of imagination into proceedings!

Unfortunately, although I have enjoyed this series a lot, it has been for the shock factor - and not for the FUN FACTOR, as that seems long gone.

Saying that though, I enjoyed the task where Kav was a singing dummy and the two Katie's were the two headed monster or whatever it was.........
there should have been more like that going on.

as someone else has said somewhere, I think they probably did make plans for tasks and stuff - possibly for them to win treats/alcohol, etc - but once they realized there was entertainment to be had from watching them all argue and turn on each other, well they just let the alcohol flow and watched them fly!!!
