Hello there,

I would like to find out more about UK/Europe manufacturers for LED TVs.

I am aware nowadays most of them are made in China, but I am sure there are still some manufacturers out there that make them around here. I am talking about companies with their own assembling facilities, not those that just put their name on the cabinet.

So far I know the following:

- TechniSat, Germany
- Cello Electronics, UK
- TCL, China but manufactured in Poland I believe

Then there's the Turkish companies like Vestel, Beko, etc.

Any ideas?

As far as I'm aware Cello just do minimal final assembly of cheap Chinese sets - all the ones I've seen have been obviously cheap Chinese in origin.

Presumably they simply screw the boards in place?, and thus claim UK 'manufacture'.

It's always a fine line between assembly and manufacture these days as so many components are bought in. It's hard to keep up with the situation but off the top of my head:

UMC (makes Sharp brand)

TCL (makes TCL and Thomson branded TVs)

Slovakia
UMC (makes Blaupunkt, Technika and other brands)

Spain
Ficosa (made Sony TVs after acquiring the factory. Don't know if it still does.)

Turkey
Vestel (makes many own brands, Vestel-owned brands include Techwood and Finlux)
Beko (makes Grundig and Beko TVs)
Profilo Telra (made Telefunken and Tevion TVs. Dont' know if they're still going)
