Have a look at this....

I posted about this last night, But here are the links to the two edits. Please try to see past the fact I am a KH fan as there is no way of knowing which version is closest to the truth! My point is the huge difference that a little edit, and making something a "news item" can make!

CBBOTS 5th Feb - FastFoward to 16:50

http://www.channel5.com/shows/celebr...episode-22-188

HL Live Final- 6th Feb - FastFoward to 4:40

http://www.channel5.com/shows/celebr...episode-31-130

Of course we all know that selective editing goes on and always had done, but I think its rare that we are presented with a great example right in front of our eyes!

Please don't take this as pro or anti anyone! The point is about the production, not the housemates.

So much selective editing. It is so laughable

That is a great example of the editing.

Can't view the clips on iPad so don't know who the clips are referring to.

There has always been selective editing and with the lf it was far more noticeable.

Carole was edited to be this kind, gentle, motherly person in the house who cared for everyone however in reality she was a complete control freak

I wouldn't normally waste so much time watching ads to view just a few seconds of clips - but I play one of your amps and it's very good - so I did on this occasion.

Yes it's a clear edit - so Rylan could show what appeared to be a more awkward moment than it was. That's all you can say really - I'm not surprised.

I think its impossible to tell which version is closest to what really happened,

The BOTS version could have had the long awkward silence edited in, or the HL version could have edited it out? I'm sure we all have theories (probably that support our favourite) but thats not the point.

There are two kinds of editing in my eyes- Editing bits out is all parr for the course, and to be expected, But editing a conversation to make it represent something completely different is not really acceptable in my book (anyone see "The Running Man" ? )

Glad you like the Amp - but I'm not that Dr Z! ..I'm more like the squid thing on Futurama.

Oh yes, this was clearly the "clincher" in Pricey winning...

I do agree .... but that isn't the point I'm trying to make.

While I've been aware of editing I really didn't realise they actually 'remix' conversations to alter their significance. I though we just 'didn't see bits' - but it seems we see a work of fiction based on actual soundbites.

I noticed that, last night.

We really can't trust any of it.

Reality, my arse.

But don't dare ask for a live feed. You'll put the Story Editors out of a job, and they're all on £23k a series. All the phone vote money has got to go somewhere.

What are we supposed to be comparing? The first link was Katie H didn't want to use Callum's towel in case she got Callum smeg on her face

The second clip was the HL show from finals night which started with Katie H questioning Katie P about coming back after having her doctor's examination.

Edit - ok I've taken a second look and I guess it's the long pause that is in contention when Katie H comes into the room

Thanks for reminding me what a b*tch Katie H is though, edit or no edit.

Both edits start with KP talking to Keith in the bedroom and then KH comes in.

First edit - KP stops talking about KH when KH comes in the bedroom. Awkward!

Second edit - KP stops talking anout her stinky boob hole when KH comes in the bedroom.

Thanks for clearing that up.

This kind of stuff has been going on for years. Yeah it's wrong, but you only highlight it when it's your favourite who comes out worse.

Oh yeah, absolutely.
I haven't clicked on the links and seen what they are, but when Michelle and Katie Price were talking about Katie Hopkins behaviour changing regarding Perez, the uploaded clip was different to the one on the HL show. They chopped it up and took out choice words. Such as Katie P mentioning that she thinks the good hearted side of her was real.
And the argument that time restraints don't allow for these things to be featured doesn't hold up when what they cut out of conversations can last for less than a second.
They've done it for a long time, it was noticed years ago.

I don't know if you've seen this, but here is a clip which is occasionally posted on this forum from time to time. It's a clip from Charlie Brooker's old Screenwipe TV show about reality TV editing.
If you haven't seen it before then I think you'll enjoy it.

It's a very good example.
And I wish people would stop saying "It's bad editing". It's not bad editing, it's not as if they've been clumsy and accidentally made a fumble, these people are good at their job. It's an example of excellent editing by people who know exactly what they're doing.

I've seen the clips now, and I think that's a tad unfair, as what the OP said was that they liked Katie H, and in my opinion the second clip is more in Katie Price's favour.

I think you can work out to some extent from those clips which clip provides a more accurate context. Due to working out what's missing in each clip and where the edits cut.
