I also got Netflix more for the TV shows but since getting it I have watched a lot of movies that I wouldn't have looked twice at otherwise.
I have since got rid of Sky Movies. |

We're on our third free trial and watch Netflix original dramas and the odd film that bypassed Sky.
No substitute for Sky, but a good occasional addition. |

We were paying £20 a month for sky movies. We ditched that and for the same price we have-
Netflix + unblock us which gives us great tv series and almost all the movies you get on sky. Now TV for it's HBO content Amazon for its original series and exclusive content. So basically everything you get for an expensive package but at a fraction of the price

Good yet brief explanation why Netflix makes its own shows.

That was an interesting read and makes perfect sense why Netflix make their own TV shows now. This has proved to be a massive success that competitors like Amazon have copied this model!
Although this can only be good for subscribers like us as we get to see TV shows on both Netflix and Amazon that properly wouldn't have been made without this model! |

If Netflix are making their own shows. Will shows still get axed if they don't do well?

The honest answer to that is Im not sure!
At the moment no Netflix produced show has been cancelled as far as Im aware. As I believe even Marco Polo is returning for a second season despite not being a critical success! Upcoming Netflix shows like the Marvel shows like Daredevil are likely to be very popular as people already want to know when they start! Amazon have been different in their approach as they have just pilots and then made series out of the success but dropped the less popular ones! |

- Cheaper - More choice - Includes TV boxsets - Includes Netflix Originals, some highly rated such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black - No ads (I don't know if Sky Movies have adverts in but their catch up boxsets do) - Netflix have the exclusive UK rights to Better Call Saul (Breaking Bad spin-off) - They are signing more and more deals for their "Originals" service, obviously all of them won't appeal to every subscriber but off the top of my head they have: > Marvel tie-up with 4 original series including Daredevil > Multiple-film agreement with Adam Sandler > Film agreement with the Wachowski brothers > Exclusive streaming rights for The Blacklist after it airs on TV in the US > Stand up comedy specials (mostly US focussed) > Multiple documentaries - Available to watch on multiple devices with no annoying "device limit" like Sky Go (just a concurrent stream limit which is perfectly reasonable). |

Also don't forget that Netflix UK has exclusive rights to Lillehammer as well which used to be shown on BBC4

And no one is gonna know what shows are doing ratings wise because Netflix won't be releasing any data. Be interesting to see how that works out.

^^Agree NF doesn't have to pander to advertisers so it can show and produce shows, which have less main stream appeal, but because they're on NF, they already get money from the subscriptions anyway.
The thing I love the most is no annoying adverts, no self promoting before screenings (looking at you BBC) you can sit there and with the new way that the next episode starts within 20secs you don't have to touch the remote all evening. Watching multiple episodes is the way forward makes for a better viewing experience when watching things like The Fall, The Killing, Broadchurch etc. |

"Cross region" sounds to me as if it means that a UK viewer and a US viewer would get the same movies but that isn't so. What does it actually mean?
