Offending someone isn't always a crime, but it is always not very nice.

This^

Thin skin is in I'm afraid

I get banned on here all the time because certain individuals run to report me

It's not even what I say as I filter well and don't make it personal

It's just sites/companies etc. HAVE to be seen to be 'doing something about it'

Opinion isn't meant to be set in stone, it's meant to open dialogue

But like Perez it just runs away and tells teacher

sad

Why would you want to offend anybody? When is it necessary?

You want the right to do something you wouldn't do? Is that right

"Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words will never hurt me."

What distinguishes us from other creatures is complex language, allowing us to manipulate abstract ideas.

The idea that words have no power is disingenuous nonsense put about by semi-literate buffoons.

absolutely true......for example, if daddy keeps telling you that he is disappointed in you, it can turn a nice little girl into a bitter twisted old harridan whose has to make a career spouting bile about everybody in a sad attempt to feel a little bit better than other people.

Offending gay people seems to be a crime.
Offending blacks seems to be a crime (god forbid you say coloured).
Everyone else is fair game but the leftie luvvies will hound you out of town.

They're not crimes. Go on, say something offensive. Fill your boots.

Dearie me. Alf Garnett seems to have made a comeback. Would you like to be able to offend black people and gay people with impunity? If so, there are plenty of places where you will be very welcome. I'm sure you know where they are....

If you read the post you would see the word SEEMS.
Blacks and gays are protected by law from homophobic and racist language, fat people, ginger haired people big nosed people etc are not.
Also if I said something offensive on this forum I would be banned.

*for the record, I do not wish to say anything offensive about anyone - either protect everyone from offensive language or no-one, I prefer the latter.

Please read my post above, you are very wide of the mark.
I believe in fairness for everyone.

OK, fair do's. But it would have been better if you'd said all that in your original post, let's be honest! In answer to 'fairness for everyone' I have to say that imo it's a slippery slope when you equate name-calling over having a big nose to institutionalised racism. Things then get diluted to a meaningless level.

IMO it's the F word that proceeds the descriptive word and the C word that follows that is most offensive.

Everyone is protected. You can't threaten to kill a ginger but you can call someone coloured if you want to.

If you don't want to say anything offensive then it doesn't matter to you. What you want is the right for people who do want to cause offence to cause offence?

Really? You're very cryptic so I can't tell if you're entirely serious! Are you saying you would be more offended by swear words than the expression of racist or homophobic views? Or by an insult about red-headed people or big-nosed people?
Swearing doesn't really bother me much tbh. I feel a bit sick when I hear the other stuff though. My son has red hair. The crap he's had to put up with you wouldn't believe. Or maybe you would?

I once gave an entire 40 minute public speech about my pride in being English. Eat your heart out, eh? I don't think you would have liked the speech though, to be honest.

What could be the reason, one wonders? I don't get banned on here all the time, or even any of the time.

I wonder what your previous forum names were.

Some of the warnings did seem like we were tuning into a live feed of The Hunger Games.
