RuPaul

Rupaul is perhaps best known these days for his hit show, Rupaul's Drag Race. But he is also a singer with about 5/6 albums to his name. I have been listening to his stuff recently and it's rather good. It's camp, slightly outrageous, but innocent catchy dance music. Although some of the production on the songs leave little to be desired.

Any other fans?

Although he isn't commericially success, could RuPaul open up for more drag queens or perhaps even trans artists to come into the music industry more?

Thoughts?

Yaaaaas.

The Beginning.>>>>>> Such a great song.

Love the whole Glamazon album tbh. Especially the title track "All the boys say: 'She's so blady tall". I get my life everytime.

I think his albums are brilliant.

The Beginning is fantastic and is a perfect dance song! Soo good!

Love him. He has made some great pop/dance tunes.

Ru's songs are amazing. Sissy That Walk would have been an easy #1 hit if Katy Perry or Rihanna released it

Nice to see some more fans

I really like Cover Girl and Jealous of my boogie.

I found the born naked album a little disappointing but that's only because champion and glamazon were so fecking good. My favourite rupaul songs are main event, glamazon, live forever and supermodel. Massive rupaul fan.

Hearing Sissy That Walk in a club last summer was one of the greatest moments of my entire life. Ok, slight exaggeration but it was amazing.

My favourite track by Ru is Glamazon. Cover Girl is a favourite as well but when you've watched every episode of Drag Race at least one, it becomes a bit tiresome!

Oh yes honey, due to the fact that her thighs spread just like...

I love the born naked album. To me it's the most commercial album that Rupaul has ever done. Its a shame she doesn't promote them more because several tracks on that album are solid pop tunes.

I had only ever heard of Supermodel, but since watching Drag Race (and Ru's shameless self promotion ) i've been introduced to some great stuff. The Beginning in particular is catchy as hell.

Clearly the production budget is minimal, but who cares when the tunes sound so good!!

I love songs from the Drag Race challenges too... 'Can I Get an Amen (WHERE MY PEOPLE AAATTTTT??)'

I love Ru's albums! There are one or two songs on the Born Naked album that I think could genuinely have been global hits if recorded by bigger names!

The Beginning, Sissy That Walk, Let The Music Play, Cover Girl, Supermodel Of The World and Glamazon are all incredible!

"Main Event" is a Chooooooooooooooon.

I could have sworn it was Britney Spears on "Adrenaline" turns out it was her backing singer.

I totally agree. If "Geronimo" had been done by Nicki Minaj it would have been huge. Katy Perry could have done "Modern Love". "Fly tonight" would have been perfect for Kylie.

I LOVE Main Event. Any song with a string section is a winner in my eyes. So damn catchy.

Apart from Supermodel, Ru's early music is dreadful. It hasn't aged well and sounds dated. 90's dance music as it's worst. It's not until his fourth album where his music becomes much better produced with memorable hooks. The Major annoyance is his last album, Born Naked, is not physically available and only digital download. So will have to burn it on a disc.

I have been checking out other artists who are Drag queens. A handful happen to be from Rupaul's drag race.

A lot of the queens release their own music after leaving the show but I'm not sure if it is up to the quality of Ru's stuff.
Adore Delano seems to be quite popular though.

Adore Delano's album is incredible. Digitally available only.

Listening to Sharon Needles's album. It's quite good. Has a mixture of different genres. Not just typical dance pop. The whole album is a reflection of her drag style and personality we saw on Drag race.
