Might be a silly question but we have an old sky+ box that could be used in a bedroom and I've noticed it's got an "aerial IN" socket on the back, does that mean it will work as a freeview box if I connect a normal outdoor/roof aerial to it?

I'm only asking as I can't actually try it yet because I haven't got a Scart lead in our house, (everything is HDMI). If it will work then I can get a Scart lead and bobs your brothers uncle!

No. The aerial IN socket is just connected to the RF 1 and RF 2 OUT sockets. It's function is only to allow you to send the aerial signals and the output of the built in modulator in the Sky box to other TVs in the house easily.

No Sky box can receive Freeview via the Aerial (RF) In socket. It can only receive satellite broadcasts from a satellite dish, Perhaps you misread the post as Freesat?

Chris to answer your other question it's just a outdoor aerial we have to the bedroom.

So in other words the sky box won't work plugging a tv aerial into it? Our only option is to buy a freeview box then?

If you only have a TV aerial connection available then only a Freeview receiver will work.

All the Sky box will do if you were to plug the aerial into it is act as a one in two out aerial splitter.
