Bought this for the one day off contract price of £99, knew though it was still locked to O2. Contacted O2 re how to unlock, they said I have to be with them for a year, then pay £15 for it to be unlocked. If I went into an O2 shop do you think they would unlock it without me having to wait for the year, I don't mind paying the £15?

Is there another way to get this unlocked, or perhaps will it work with other providers who use the O2 network as well.

If it really comes to it will return to Amazon, get a refund as unopened.

Many Thanks.

Assuming you are on PAYG from the information given.

Your other option is to find a friend who is on O2 contract, put their sim in the phone, make a call and then get them to fill out the unlocking form and wait for the code to come through to them.

If that isn't an option you could take out a 1 month sim only on the cheapest possible plan (£9 a month) and do the process yourself and then terminate the sim only.

Both these options don't need to you have been with O2 for a year and would be free to unlock although the sim only option would have the airtime charge until you terminate but this would still be less than £15

From other forums, even if you get them to unlock it, there seems to be issues with changing the APN on the most recent firmware, so you might have problems using data with anyone other than O2.

Probably worth some research before paying for an unlock.
